Seats are awesome if you're short and every concert consists of listening to what might as well be a live radio broadcast, since you're staring at the back of a bunch of taller heads, the entire time. Proximity doesn't mean a lot to me, for that reason. I'm fine with being a bit further back.
Dang. Just realized my avatar is me, actually on the grandstand at What Stage. It really isn't as bad as all that. The camera lens is distorting it. Also, that was during some of the worst of the dust, Saturday afternoon. The dust cleared out a lot at night. I only bothered with the seating when I was tired, during the day, or during the headliners.
This is What Stage VIP seating in 2007 while we were waiting on Tool to start. If you look closely you can see Meg, Boz, and their group sitting on the lawn. Keep in mind, right behind these bleachers is the VIP beer tent, which makes for easy access to cheaper beer. There aren't any VIP potties back there, though.
I checked and I don't have any pics of the VIP seating for the Which Stage. I know someone has some good pics of it though - maybe it was Gene (Bug), but I'm not sure.
That's more what I remember, TickTrix! Whew. I looked at my avatar and thought, "that just can't be right." I remember it just as your picture shows it.
Man, the Which stage bleachers for White Stripes really hit the spot last year. We had to wait about 15 minutes to be able to get seats, but the crowd was all the way back to the bleachers anyway. Damn near perfect way to finish out the weekend.
We bought VIP tickets on Saturday. I have never been VIP before, and I am seeing comments people have made about checking in at the Holiday Inn? Do you have to get VIP tickets from some secret spot? Someone please explain!
Basically there is a holiday inn close to the entrance to roo and you go there to check in. That's where they give you your wrist band, t shirt, poster, and all the other good stuff. I got there late last year, but from what I heard there was an awful line in the beginning of the day. The secret most people talk about is the road to get to the holiday inn. That is suppose to be secret but last year there was a huge sign on the side of the highway.
I'm going VIP for the first time this year! Yay! I do have a question though...I am vegan (no meat, eggs, milk, cheese, etc.) and I was wondering if they have any kind of foods that I could eat at the buffets?
There's usually a large salad at the VIP buffet, but I'd recommend bringing enough basic foods to sustain yourself if you're worried about it.
The buffet was kind of spotty last year, but I heard somewhere that the organizers gave the catering company the wrong data, so the caterers were struggling all weekend just to keep up with the demand for food.

i think the web said there would be 2 catering tents this year for VIP. technically, there were 2 tents last year too, but only one had food.
Pretty sure it's just one catering tent, same as last year. The info on the site seems to be exactly what I remember them saying last year: "Two VIP lounges with beverages and a full buffet plus snacks." Which meant 2 VIP lounges with beverages (one beside the catering tent and one under the What stage bleachers) and in the catering tent, a full buffet with snacks. They put out multiple line setups, so (with the exception of the 6:30 p.m., first meal on Thursday night) I never really had to wait for food. That Thursday night line, though, wow. It was pretty long for a lot of people. I showed up a teeny bit before 6:30 and buzzed on through soon as they opened. People arriving later had a wait. Everyone seemed to show up all at once, meaning that the caterers were constantly struggling to refill the food lines. The rest of the weekend, people pretty much showed up on their own schedule. Lines were rarely slammed. If anything, the line to purchase beverages saw more of a wait, after Thursday night. But that first night, it's likely you'll see slowness in both the catering tent and for beverages in the catering tent. But if you snag your food, and walk to the VIP lounge next door, you might find a shorter line for beverages.
My wife and I got to the VIP pre-party around 8pm and had absolutely no line for beer or food.
Looked like the folks arriving around 6:45 to 7:30 got the worst of it. When we left, we walked past a huge line of people. Nice to know it cleared up by 8!
But for those arriving earlier on Thursday, just keep in mind that regular hours for catering don't begin until Friday. So, if you want to eat at all before 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, that will need to be on your own, unless they change something this year.

I bought VIP tickets and I am convinced but are there anyother features of VIP that people are forgetting--- I mean i know there is food , beer , bathrooms ect.. anything else????? get treated differently?
Honestly, the vip seating areas for the stages were pretty weak in my opinion. The ones for the main stage are in a terrible position. That said, when it is Sunday and you have burned it at both ends all weekend, those seats are nice. There were also a number of problems with no seats left on the 2nd stage VIP stadium seating (which is better positioned but very far from the stage).
Now, that said, I think Bonnaroo VIP is well well well worth the money. The food was good overall last year, in my opinion, and available for extended periods of time. I think we ate 3-4 times a day from the VIP food tent. Additionally, the close camping area and easy in/out access (pretty much zero security check) meant we could easily duck out to our campsite, grab more water, eat, do whatever, and then head back into the shows. We were maybe a 5 minute walk from the main stage, if that. Additionally, VIP was much calmer and quieter, which meant when we needed to sleep, we slept (until the heat hit... oof!). Finally, do not underestimate the power of the shower. A late afternoon or early evening shower and snack can lift you from your knees and back into the greatness of the 'roo!
We went VIP because we absolutely had to be out Sunday night and back to work Monday (sux but such is life) and we knew VIP would be the route to ensure it would happen. We were so thrilled we swore never to do 'roo without VIP.
Unfortunately, this year professional commitments mean we cannot do 'roo, but if we were going, it would absolutely be VIP. It's expensive, sure, but it is WELL WELL worth the money.
But I've heard voices not in the head Out in the air they called ahead Through ripped out speakers Through thick and thin They found a shelter Under my skin -Evgeny Aleksandrovitch Nikolaev
I've looked over the VIP Info and have a couple questions that I could not find answers: 1) How are the spots allocated? I will be in a car. I hear you must go to The Holiday Inn. 2)If it is first come gets the best spots, when do most be arrive and/or leave Nashville to get there? 3) Other than the RV w/tents fiasco last year (I assume this will not happen in 2008), are there less than desireable tent areas in VIP?

Another question about vip if I fly inn and take the shuttle does it go to holiday inn to get the wristbands or only to bonnaroo and if so how would I get to the hotel?
1) Spots are first-come, first-serve, just like GA. They'll tell you where to park. 2) There are no bad spots. I had one of the "worst" spots in VIP B last year and still was less than 5 minutes from Centeroo and the free food. 3) In my opinion? Not really.
tramsnevets: The shuttle would probably take you to the holiday inn if you asked, but I don't really know. Email the folks @ AC/Superfly and ask them.

So, here's a question, I'm obviously already convinced to go VIP, but I was wondering, from those of you that have done VIP and GA, how would you say your level of exhaustion and development of exhaustion compare from one to the other? Do you feel like going VIP gave you more energy to dance and enjoy shows or more endurance to make it through the weekend? Inquiring Minds want to know.
I've never gone GA, but I can easily imagine how much MORE exhausted I would've been if I'd had to deal with the lines through the arch, the walk from BFE, and noisy neighbors inhibiting what little sleep I get.
The main thing for me is being close to the action. A 10 min round trip to the campsite and back is alot better than an hour or more. Sure you can get lucky in GA and be close but you could also be waaaay out there. And the free beer on Thursday don't hurt too.
