Things are falling into place. New job, working things out with the guy I am seeing, and my running is getting better and better. I guess as long as I'm making money, sweating my ass off, and getting some sweet, sweet lovin' then I am a happy girl.
Now F this cold and rainy weather...tomorrow I am on a plane to Florida!

While in Memphis, my daughter and I went to The Peabody to watch the evening duck march. The best part wasn't the ducks, it's that Brittany Howard just happened to be there. She was so cool, spoke with us for a minute then snapped a pic. I am still excited about it

I loved that pic of you guys with Brittany. I have to admit I'm a little jealous.
Since the gf does not like attention I will put my YAY for her here instead of in FB, so she will not murder me.
She has been an attorney for 7 years. She started out, in her words, in the right direction. Interning for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in DC. Being young and impatient she then took a clerkship with a Federal judge in Delaware. Also growing up in a family with modest means the thought of being financially secure was to much to resist. From there she ended up working in corp litigation at two firms in Delaware that had good reputations. She became disheartened as she witnessed how things worked in "big law" especially in regards to business development, the billable hour, the advent of the non equity partner, and general treatment of (female) associates. Apart from "how things worked" it really was just not a good fit for her to be practicing in an area of law where seemingly the goal was to see who could be a bigger asshole, causing delays in the case to buy time for a client and run up costs for the other side...and so on. She missed actually practicing law.
Fast forward...we moved to Ohio about a year ago. She became more and more dissatisfied with her job and dealing with the sociopaths she had to work with and against. I encouraged her to look for something more suitable, as she had got to the point she felt she had pigeon holed herself into being "stuck" in litigation.
Long story short, she accepted a job just a few days ago as a staff attorney for the Chief Justice of the Ohio Supreme Court. Even though it comes with a significant pay decrease I can already see a change in her general demeanor. It makes me so happy to see her happy. She is looking forward to getting these last two weeks over with and officially starting her new gig. Could not be prouder of her. She has a brilliant mind and will be much happier researching and doing legal writing for the Chief.

Broke my old record player yesterday while spinnin' some old country vinyl. Only plays backwards now. THE UPSIDE: I got my wife back, my dog back, and my truck back.
Last day of classes for the semester! Tonight is the last banquet of the semester I have to make food for. It's a super fancy French meal (one course is foie gras) for an area wine society. I'm making their dessert. Very excited!
This weekend is TulipFest! Free music and friends and dancing and beautiful tulips everywhere. Not to mention I get to knock out a potential conflict for Roo since MsMr is headlining.
EDIT: OMMEGANG JUST ANNOUNCED THAT NEUTRAL MILK HOTEL WILL BE PLAYING THERE IN SEPTEMBER!
Three 'YAY!' things for KD today: 1. Reduced the insane payments on my auto loan. YAAAY! 2. My 'Roo wristbands (and super cool lunchbox!!!) will be here by Friday. YAY! 3. I have figured out how to turn my creative side project into a legit career. YAY! YAY! YAY!
Bonus: Shout out to all of you awesome folks. This community always gives me an extra boost of 'YAY!' in my day!
I finally managed to get all my financial aid stuff straightened out with my school! It has been a 3 month hassle over basically a typo, but I am back in good standing and will be starting the last leg of my Bachelor's degree in July!
I'm absolutely in love with the house, it's everything I want and new construction. Plus the location is ideal and perfect for my current job. AND there is a Taco Bell literally within walking distance!!!!!!!!
Crossing my fingers I can get in a contract before this weekend.
