My first 'roo experience wasnt too bad but it was a lot worse than i had come to expect and i will not be attending for the forseeable future. 2 things that come to mind:
1. the environment part a - waaaaaaaaaay too many fockin people. i ignored my one friend's request to go to wakarusa. he said it had better music and less people. the music was the one thing i really, REALLY did enjoy about bonnaroo. the problem was the huge friggin crowds at every show. now obviously that large amounts of people are to be expected at shows, but theres a huge difference between 20,000 and 80,000 people to deal with. waiting in line to see lewis black for over and hour and a half, missing other acts i really would've loved to see, only to find out i wasnt gonna get in? shiiiiiiittyyyyyyyyyyyy. part b - the heat. yea i know its tennessee and i know its summer and its hot and all that shyt. but come on. doing this during the summer is just such a bad idea. IMO it would've been a lot better during the fall or possibly even later in the summer. when the heat wakes you up at 9 and wont let you get back to sleep (especially considering nothing starts till at least 12) thats super gay.
2. what was up with the lack of weed? and the prevalence of other shyt for that matter... it just seems like weed was the one thing that none of my friends and i could find. all i had heard coming in was the prevalence of every kind of drug. one of the reasons i wanted to come was to stock up on some dank for the rest of the summer (when its impossible to find dank in my area). when i asked people they all just said to be patient, that it will come. even my few pro-rooers that accompanied me found the same to be true. weed should've been the most prevalent thing there from what i had come to learn through stories or what i read on here. did the big dealers get busted? what happened? also, i turned away the hundreds of shroom dealers in search of some dank acid and was only able to find two dealers - neither of them gave me shyt that actually worked. 3 hits from both, didnt feel a thing the entire weekend. i tried some of my friend's shrooms as well and didnt feel a damn thing either. not necessarily blaming it on them (perhaps the heat ruined the doses), but come on i thought hippies wanted to help their fellow hippies.
also, if anyone can gimme an approximate recipe of those 'strawberry fields' smoothies (im sure its easy but i really didnt pay attention to how they were made) id be forever in debt......
that said, the music was excellent. i was particularly impressed with beck, radiohead, g love (the bands i came to see) but also balkan beat box was off the hook. oysterhead, tom petty, patton oswald, toubab krewe, what i heard of the neville brothers, the flecktones (they're always great live), the dresden dolls (i only stayed for a few songs cuz i was too damn tired that night) all impressed me very much. i woulda looooooved to check out dj logic's set but, again, too many people means too big of a line for me at 3 in the morning when im already too tired... soooo yea....

I, too, coulnd't believe the lack of weed, considering how everyone was talking about how easy and accessible it was to get at the roo. I got lucky the first night and had a couple guys talk to me and they happened to have some that they smoked with me and even sold me an eighth, but it was quite pricey.
All I can say is that my life is pretty plain I like watchin' the puddles gather rain And all I can do is just pour some tea for two And speak my point of view But it's not sane, It's not sane
I just want some one to say to me I'll always be there when you wake

Jeff,
Perhaps you saw my mammoth post on why I won't be going back to Bonnaroo, and the thread which then unfolded in which I may have, not really sure yet, changed my mind.
I didn't get to see near as much music as you did, so I would have been totally thrilled to have gotten as much out of it as you did.
