Last weekend I saw Volvox and she's an amazing DJ. My girlfriend and I had so much fun we were literally jumping up and down at some points just dancing like idiots. A couple nights before that I saw Kelly Lee Owens and she puts on a nice show too. She had to take a ten minute break because apparently she didn't have all of her equipment plugged in, but when she came back on she killed it. Her songs sound great live, I'd definitely recommend seeing her live if you have the chance.
Tonight I saw Curtis Harding. I'm not sure if it was postjack or snowmanomura who posted about him that made me want to listen to him, but he's so fun live (not gonna lie, I confuse you two all them because you both like Phish, totally not a great reason and I should know by now, oops). I needed that soul in my life, I would definitely see him again (which I'll get the chance to do so at Lollapalooza).

must have been snowmanomura, I'm not familiar with Curtis Harding, but it sounds like I should be. and no worries about confusing us, sometimes I confuse us too.
White Denim is playing at Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats for FREE on June 22nd, the weekend after Firefly. I'm lovin the new DFH brewpub, all their shows are free. In the last six months I've seen Guided By Voices, Waxahatchee, Surfer Blood, Steve Gunn, The Stone Foxes and Work Drugs there, and it rules because the beer is cheap and world class and it's at the beach. Definitely worth checking a show out here if you live in the Delmarva area.
03/14 - Thievery Corporation 04/25 - Black Country, New Road 05/04 - In Flames, Gatecreeper 05/10 - Modern Life is War 05/21 - Spite, Bodysnatcher, Thrown 05/29 - Knocked Loose, Loathe, Show me the Body, Speed 06/02 - Bush 06/22 - George Thorogood 06/23 - Dillinger Escape Plan, Deadguy, Candy, Carbomb

Of Montreal last night at Mr Small's (7th time). Kevin Barnes was glorious as always. They played a lot off of Hissing Fauna and Skeletal Lamping, so I was happy. A giant theatrical and psychedelic dance party as per usual. They played 5/6 on the new album, which sounded great live and continue to grow on me.

Shame. That was like a fucking wrecking ball. Fuck me.
I was blown away by how polished they were. I guess they've been a band for ~4-5 years at this point, but their chemistry and stage presence felt like a band that's been around longer. Front man's banter was also really funny and engaging, which, compared to the awkward 'aw shucks' vibe from Snail Mail, again made it seem like they've been around longer than they have.

Agreed on all points. They strike me as a band that has all the pieces to get fairly big over time.
One of the big things I've been realizing with seeing them and watching videos of them is how few proper front men/women/people there are in bands these days. Not being stuck behind a guitar has a big impact, especially when you have as much stage presence/charisma as Shame's frontman. He gives me Iggy Pop/Jim Morrison vibes

That's funny you say that. When I saw them the bassist tried to destroy the drum set at the end of the show and the drummer was PISSED. The drummer stormed off and the bassist looked a little sheepish.
But I agree with you that they are an absurdly tight band. I would imagine it really let's their singer shine because he knows what everyone's doing back there.
I can also feel myself getting older because they all looked like babies to me. Makes their show even more impressive.
Been waiting for someone to quote this thread. Nils Frahm was fucking excellent a couple nights ago. I went with some people who had no idea who he was and they were blown away.

I went in thinking they were a bit past their sell-by date, but Cut Copy were friggin' great last night. Would recommend to any and all who love to dance
Bermuda Triangle was pretty cool. All three of them sounded good, and for being such a thrown together project they all complemented each other well. Crowd was going nuts for anything Howard did but that was probably to be expected, she did a good job of deflecting praise towards the other two, and it was cool seeing such a big star on a small stage in a small venue. All of them were pretty funny too.

Good to hear, I'm seeing them tonight with a pretty big group!
