i'm seeing ingrid michaelson, newton faulkner and david ford on friday at the madison theater near cincinnati. i'm basically just going for david ford though, well he's the one i'm looking forward to the most.
The Black Crowes Sat night in Birmingham at the Alabama Theater - OMFG!!! Incredible!! They get better every time I see them....I SOOOOO hope they are at Roo next year...with Luther it just pops them to another dimension....seriously! Here's a few pix of the weekend - off the hook!! ;D ;D ;D
Perpetual Groove the other week was pretty killer. They were real tight with all their songs, and put on a real phenomenal show. It's good thing I remember the end of the show, cause I don't remember coming home

"I just got fragged by a non-working speak." 5 Roo's and counting
I saw Ratdog last night. The first set was so-so. But the second set brought the heat. ;D ;D

i'm going to see manchester orchestra, dead confederate, kevin devine and all get out tonight at the southgate house in newport, ky (right across from cincy)
only $13
i've never seen any live, i got the manchester orchestra album "like a virgin losing a child" or something like that, only listened to a couple times, only heard a couple songs by dead confederate, the name kevin devine sounds familiar but i'm not sure if i've ever heard him
i found out about man orch and dead conf through bonnaroo
i love going to shows, and it seems that over the past few years, i have become a fan by going to shows of bands that i don't know much about
should be a good night, as long as the snow holds off
I'm going to see Yes in Myrtle Beach, on Saturday. A friend won tickets, so I'm very, very excited to see a band that's put out some of my favorite music, ever. Even if Jon Anderson isn't going to be there, the fill-in's supposed to be great.
But to be able to see Howe and Squire perform "Close To The Edge," "Starship Trooper," "Long Distance Runaround," "Roundabout," etc. is just going to be awesome.
I saw 2020 Soundsystem over the weekend @ Studio B in Brooklyn, they aboslutely killed it. Some of the most fun I have had at a show in a while and prob one of the filthiest dance parties I've been to all year. It was their last show of the US tour and you could tell they really wanted to throw it down and they seemed really pumped to be playing in brookyn for their last stop. Also thank god lotus was playing that night also cause it kept most of the hippy riff raff away from studio b

Relentless 7 - Spaceland - Los Angeles, CA 12/4/08
AMAZING show!! This band is on fire, and will undoubtably get even better, Ben seems right at home here. I think people will keep comparing the musicianship of the Innocent Criminals, and this band, but in all honesty, I think Ben is really trying for that stripped down straight-up rock sound. They are very much a bluesy/psych/hard rock quartet, so sick. All new songs played, with the exception of "Better Way" which had a totally slowed down bluesy-really big drums sound to it, "Serve Your Soul" which jammed out for about ten minutes or so, and a cover of "Under Pressure" by Queen, which was well.....a nice singalong cover. I also got a nice little 7" with two new songs on it, "The Word Suicide" & "Eldorado", which I cant wait to listen to. And I stood next to David Arquette & Courtney Cox during the show....random. I don't see how this band would NOT be at Bonnaroo this year, its pretty much a given.

Saw Howe, Squire, and White of Yes on Saturday night. Jon Anderson wasn't there, but they had a replacement who sounded almost identical to Jon.
The show was great. They played the whole Close To The Edge album with, mostly, cuts from the late 60's and early seventies, but there was some other material from the 80s that was covered, I was unfamiliar with. Even though I didn't know the songs, they sounded good and I enjoyed them. I went in looking forward to the show and it exceeded my expectations.

Saw Ra Ra Riot last night at the Southgate House in Northern Kentucky. Didn't know nearly anything about them, only had heard one song previously, but went to the show cause I've heard the buzz on the net about them.
One of the best, original sounding, indie bands I've heard in awhile. I think what gives them that "original sound all their own" would be the two female hotties in the band, one playing a cello i think and the other a violin.
Just saw they played with Vampire Weekend a few days ago. Of course, their next show after they played with VW, which was without VW, was the show I was at. Wish they would've brought VW along last night. Thats allright though. RRR was good, and from what I caught of the openers, So Many Dynamos and Princeton, were good as well.
All Get Out, Dead Confederate, Kevin Devine and The Goddamn Band and Manchester Orchestra at Ottobar in Baltimore last night. I cannot get enough of Dead Confederate!
went on jam cruise from jan 4-9, and all the artists were just incredible...some of my favorites were dumpstaphunk, new deal, grace potter and the nocturnals (that woman can sing), and leftover salmon to name a few...overall opinion, if you can afford it get your a-s-s on the ship, you will not regret it

I am getting ready to eat some dinner, start the pregame festivities, and then i am going to see Trampled by Turtles tonight. Hope they are as good as the reviews i have read. I"m going into this knowing nothing about them except they are some bad ass bluegrass.
Smoke, Fire, a wrecked train, middle aged red-necks pumping fists. People wearing red devil glow in the dark horns. And a senior citizen band that can still kick ass. I did get a bit frightened when Angus took off his shirt and pulled down his pants to reveal AC/DC briefs (bought at walmart I am sure). And yes, he wore his "little boy pants"
been on a roll with live shows lately... First, I saw the Bridge last Saturday. These guys are getting big, and I can see why. very upbeat, very fun. then, on Sunday, i saw the Wailers. I had no idea how good they would be live, and to be honest they blew me away. Then, last night I saw a damn good bluegrass band, the Halftime String Band. Once again the show was great and I was really impressed with the musicians. I am hoping to go see Jazzam on thursday
