I saw Papadosio and Dopapod at the Rex Theatre in Pittsburgh over the weekend. I know inforoo tends to hate on the "Jamtronica" genre, but I had a great time, both bands put on a hell of a show.

Papadosio is consistently a great live band. Never been let down by them.

It was my fourth time seeing them. They come around my area (1 hr form Pittsbugh, two from Cleveland) to play single shows at least 4 times a year, plus they been at All Good the past two years I've gone, I try to catch them almost every time they are in Pittsburgh if I can in the future. This show cost me $17. For how long and great both bands played (Dopapod played a good 1.25 hrs. and Dosio played 2hrs.) plus the unbelievable visual show Papadosio has, it was the best show per dollar spent I've been to.

I saw Scott H Biram last night and the opener was Black Pistol Fire. It was in some dumpy metal bar in St. Paul. While Scott H Biram was good the openers were much better. Black Pistol Fire remind me of the Black Keys before they got famous. Keep an eye out them, they're on a small club tour now.

Saw Godspeed You! Black Emperor for the first time on Sunday. Their performance was beyond what I was even expecting. Completely mesmerizing. And although the stage setup was a bit cramped at the venue here, it was fitting to have some band members nearly become part of the crowd. Definitely go see them if you are considering it.

Only wish they could've played longer.
They are really awesome live, but I actually struggled a few times during their set when I saw them. The tension they build in their music is unbelievable, and my body kept waiting for a release but it just doesn't happen haha

Afrolicious > Morcheeba > Thievery Corporation at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley. Unmitigated awesomeness from start to finish. Strangely, I didn't see Eric Hilton with Thievery.

I made a day of decision to drive to Pittsburgh on Wednesday Night to see Govt Mule play Stage AE. They played great but I probably wont be making the decision to see any weeknight shows when I have to work the next morning, that Thursday was a struggle to say the least.
On Saturday I was able to see Lettuce play the Rex Theatre in Pittsburgh to a capacity crowd. Nigel Hall opened and the whole bill was just non-stop funk from start to finish and just a sweaty dance party in the crowd. One of the best small venue shows I've been too.

Really wanted to catch that Lettuce show at the Rex! Had to go out of town. Damn.

Mickey Hart's band puts on a good show. So many drums, lead gitaurist is pretty darn good and they let him flex more than I thought they would, and man that lady he has doing vocals for him is amazing.
I just got back from seeing Local Natives. I was so excited to see them again after Roo...holy butt. They are so amazing. Their lighting is also really awesome and they have a smoke machine, and they stand in this dreamy haze, and it's really sexy. One of the best shows I've seen in a while.
The Sigur Ros show on Friday night was beautiful and amazing. The only other time I've seen them was at Roo 2008. As that was my first Roo, and that night in particular was one of the best nights ever, I was nervous that I had overestimated their live show due to the circumstances. But it was all in vain; they are incredible live.

Same here, really enjoyed the show. I got a couple really good pics from the show, but I could not figure out how to post it.

Won free tickets to Sebastian Ingrosso this weekend at Festival Pier. Was a great show. Dirty South opened but IMO wasnt that good. Sebastian had one of the sets of the summer for me tho. Seemed like he was riding high the day after his TomorrowWorld set. Couldnt of been happier.

EDIT: How was Julianna Barwick?
We actually did not get to see Julianna Barwick due to traffic (long line to get in to the parking lot)... so I don't know. I'm pretty sure that even if she sucks, you guys will have forgotten about it when Sigur Ros starts.
Thursday: Brian Wilson/Jeff Beck - BW was awful. Like terrible. Really sad. However, Jeff Beck was amazing. Possibly the best guitar performance I've ever seen. Amazing.
Friday: Paper Kites/ City and Colour - great show at a really intimate venue. Fantastic show. If you get a chance, check it out.
Saturday: Black Crowes - awesome show. A lot better then they were in 1995. I almost didn't go because of how bad they were back then, but they rocked the roof off. They'd be great at Wanee... Just sayin. Long jams, but not aimless. Very fluid and easy to follow.
October 14th threw October 20 I'll be visiting Vancouver. While I'm there, I've got 4 shows lined up, Thee Oh Sees, Wavves, Japandroids, Kanye with Kendrick. I may be moving to Vancouver in a year, and that week should be just the thing to get my girlfriend on board with the idea.
I had a nice little run the last two-ish weeks. Last Thursday was Phaeleh, Saturday was Bassnectar, Monday was Sigur Ros, and Wednesday was Atoms for Peace. I think I'm satisfied... for a little while.

I saw some great acts at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass last weekend. (I'd post in that thread, but since I did the last few posts there, it seems somewhat pointless.) Highlights were Gogol Bordello, Felice Brothers, Evolfo Doofeht, G. Love & Special Sauce, and Los Lobos. As free festivals go, this is one where you definitely get your money's worth!
