this picture is the most justice I can do. I have a few of ninja crowd surfing RIGHT in front of me. I about died.
also. I was unfortunately behind a rather heavyset, tall, sweaty lady at die antwoord at roo, who was apparently rolling for the first time (as she proclaimed loudly over and over again). so, being barely over 5' tall, I had the displeasure of strictly breathing in her body vapors all between disclosure and die antwoord. thought I was going to pass out and made for a really exhausting 3am show.
ew that's gross and I understand. I think at late night roo that's occasionally bound to happen.

But this video is nuts.
yeah, you really can't beat a show during the super moon on friday the 13th at 2:00am.
Caribou w/ Jessy Lanza Austin, TX - 11/23/2014 The Mohawk
Wow, Caribou was absolutely incredible. Definite top 5 show of the year for me. If you get a chance to check Caribou out live, do not hesitate.
For those who are familiar with The Mohawk in Austin, it's an outdoor stage with a terraced balcony around the edge. The balcony wraps around to the side of the stage too. From this side stage perspective, you are elevated 5' above the stage with a perfect view to what they're doing. It's pretty much being as close as front row, but with a really cool top down view on the artists. Grabbed that spot for this show. Mohawk is by far my favorite venue of this size in Austin, love seeing shows there.
I went into the show completely blind about Jessy Lanza (with the exception of her contribution on "Second Chance") and quite enjoyed her set.
The show was sold out, and everyone was packed into Mohawk by the time Jessy took the stage. The crowd loved her, she was a great opener for Caribou.
When Caribou finally took the stage, the crowd went wild. It was one of the loudest crowds I've heard in Austin in quite some time. You could see by the smile on Dan Snaith's face, he was loving it too. After many songs, during the applause, he'd hold his hands up thanking the crowd.
I loved my top down view of the show, watching what Dan was doing was fascinating.
They definitely added quite a bit to the live versions of the songs. Several of the songs had extended 5 minute jams in the middle of them.
Setlist:
Our Love Silver Mars Found Out All I Ever Need Bowls Second Chance (w/ Jessy Lanza) Jamelia Back Home Odessa Your Love Will Set You Free Can't Do Without You ---- Sun (encore)
tl;dr Caribou rules live, a late night 'roo set needs to happen.

I saw Papadosio wih Tauk last night. Both bands were great. I would be happy with either of them at roo. Papadosio really blew me away though. The band was really tight and the whole crowd was dancing and getting into it! I don't understand why they get so much hate on here. They would slay a late night tent set.

Saw death from above 1979 and mstrkrft aftershow in Philly lasnight. It was one of the best nights of my life. Both were spectacular. I'm really hoping they both are at the farm this year.

Agreed. I saw them with longinus in New Orleans and it was awesome. Dan Snaith was really manipulative with the great sound system at One Eyed Jacks. I am definitely going to Roo this year based on the rumors of Caribou being there and the possibility of a latenight.
I've said it before, and I'll keep saying it until it happens: The Preatures are a band that's ready to play with the big boys. I've seen them 4½ times in as many months, and this was easily the best yet.
Yesterday, I went to an intimate set / meet-and-greet at a record store downtown, with about 40 or 50 people there. I stood next to Izzi's dad, and had a nice chat with the band after the set. It was really interesting to see them in an acoustic setting - very different from their usual vibe, but I liked it. Then tonight, I went to their biggest headlining gig yet - a sold-out crowd of 1400. Izzi recognised me riding the rails, stared deep into my eyes, and serenaded me with Ordinary. Oh yeah, and she signed my record with a heart. You guys... I think I'm in luurrve. (Sorry, other Jack.)

Saw Walk the Moon for the first time tonight.
I assure you it will not be the last. Easily surpassed my expectations, and put on a fantastic show. They had a lot of energy and it was a really fun time.

I saw them a couple of years ago opening for Fitz And The Tantrums. Agreed on them being way better than expected.

Saw them a tips last year, great show. Was contemplating buying tickets for their upcoming show.

Saw 1964: The Tribute last night at the State Theater in Ithaca, NY. As someone who has been a huge Beatles fan since high school, I was absolutely blown away by their performance. It was an extra special night because yesterday marked the 86th anniversary of the opening of the State Theater. And wouldn't you know it, they came out for an encore and played "Happy Birthday". If you're a Beatles fan, I wholeheartedly recommend seeing 1964: The Tribute (if you haven't already).
Brown Sabbath in NOLA @ Maison Friday was so badass. Full Brownout set then full Sabbath set. Encore of Supernaut>Faeries Wear Boots was fantastic
Anders Osborne 3rd Annual Xmas jam on Saturday was f'n excellent as well! Got a Morning Dew in the first set, along with one of the coolest sit-ins I've ever seen. Jimmy Buffett came out and led a nice long Iko-Iko.

Yeah, the Brown Sabbath set was crazy. I loved that shit - The Wizard, Sweet Leaf etc. it was good to see you. The walk back to the CBD from the Marigny masquerading as a crutch was tough. Haha. I've needed the shoulder once or twice but I knew that mf was out there when he tried to put his cap on upside diown. It was like 0-60 in no time flat. I'm glad I limited enough to get home. \\m//
My sister's birthday is today. We celebrated Saturday by going out to see O-town. Apparently they decided to do a reunion town sans one member. It was even better than I imagined it to be. They still had choreography
Yes I meant this O-town from the first MTV making the band in 2000.

OH MY GOD.
they were in minneapolis last week and I debated for so long about going. I really regret my decision to stay in. hilarious.

That's amazing. "Liquid Dreams" was such an inappropriate song for an 11 year old. Not even embarrassed to admit I had their cd.

Yea def good seein' you again mang! Yer boy was so schwill'd, that shit had me crackin' up. 0-60 is an accurate description. He looked fine when I met up with y'all, then he was suddenly almost falling down drunk.
The Head and the Heart were chatting and wasting time during their Encore on Sunday. Someone yelled, "SHAKE IT OFF!!" And Jonathan goes, "I don't know it, but I always hear Monica singing it." A few minutes later, THATH gets off and PHOX comes on and...
(I missed the first few seconds because I rarely video and it took me a second to figure our how to switch to video mode. I thought about you guys-Dave MaynarPhyre Fest- and figured a video had to be made.)
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Nah. I think that everyone likes to have a good laugh every now and then.
Nah. It's more sad and tragic than humorous. Then again, you may be the kind of lady to laugh at a funeral. That's right. I just did a Barenaked Ladies callback. I had to celebrate not being the only old person on here now that is on hiatus.
