Yeah, the first time I heard Rain Dogs I made it through two songs before turning it off. Didn't listen again for over a year, but after a couple times I was hooked and now have all the albums, etc.

I think I might be the only one but I am quite partial to Real Gone....or maybe that is the one I have been listening to the most lately.....buuuuuut interesting tidbit(maybe lol) I just looked over the cd case and apparently Les Claypool did bass for almost every track on that record....I had no idea they had worked together....

Yeah, I agree....could be the lack of piano, which usually seems so prevalent in his albums....I like it cause it seems so much more gritty...if that's possible
I picked up Rain Dogs and I must say... it doesn't really grab my attention like I had hoped. I'll keep searching for others though, because anyone with musical opinion that matters to me loves Tom Waits. Clearly, I'm just missing something...
Yeah, you're just missing something, but I don't mean that in an offensive way. Like others have said, he can be a grower. Find your way back in his catalog, check out Heart of Saturday Night, and then move back forward again. Trust me though, it'll all start clicking at some point.
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it

Yeah, Claypool and Waits go way back. Waits is on a couple Primus tracks, notably as the title character in "Tommy the Cat". And Les (as well as Larry LaLonde and Brain Mantia) has played on other Waits albums as well.

TOUR DATE CLOSE TO BONNAROO!
The Knoxville, TN Coliseum just posted that Tom Waits will be playing June 29! They took the info down soon after putting it up, but it was a full page, with on-sale dates, box office info, artist bio, and everything. I'd say it's legit.
Goddamnit, can we keep Metallica out of the Superjam? In case Superfly forgot, Robert Randolph and Jack White are both going to be there, as well as B.B. King.
And I love Gogol Bordello, but the only person I want to see singing Tom Waits songs is Tom Waits
Concert Wire (which is the website of AC Entertainment/Superfly) has this bulletin up on their website.
Given the timing, it has to be concerning the Tom Waits tour. The only question, I would guess, is whether or not he'll be at Bonnaroo.
Feeling pretty damn confident that he'll be there. Too many coincidences for him not to. If this happens, Bonnaroo more than made up for the WSP fiasco.
