i paid $500 for two tickets to see sigur ros, but couldn't go because i was stuck offshore (and i wasn't able to resell or get someone to sell them for me)
so waits ticket sell out within hours of being released? probably has already been mentioned, but what day and time do they go on sell, sounds like i need to pick up 2 plus maybe a few extra for the mobile, al show
i am getting into mr. waits. i also picked up mule variations, rain dogs, and bone machine. i've been listening to these songs trying to imagine les, eugene, and kirk playing them. i guess eugene and les would go back and forth on vocals, because i think they would both do a good job covering them. i dont think Waits be at bonnaroo if this superjam thing is happening. but yeah i definately think the jam is going to happen. with dudezer's article, les being featured on the one waits album, and gogol's music in the wristcutter's movie that tom waits co-stared in (and the eugene character was based off eugene from gogol, I FEEL VERY CONFIDENT THIS SUPERJAM WILL HAPPEN!

does anyone see something weird or wrong with people covering waits? 1/2 of waits' amazingness is his voice.
I think that a waits superjam featuring waits will be nuts (history making nuts)...I also think that if its just les, hutz and hammett, it will be neat but will probably serve more as a latenight filter for some of the other crowded latenight stages.
The only thing that gives me hope for Tom is that last year we had a artist in residence in JPJ his show was essentially the superjam. I really enjoyed the AIR concept someone who could pop up anywhere, because by anybody's standard he is a awesome musician. So if we were to have another AIR I can not see how he or she would commit to covering Waits tunes. Unless it is Scarlett Johansen .

This possible Superjam would make it the best weekend of my life !!!

Am I the only one who would rather just see Tom Waits with his regular backing band if he ended up on the farm? I love superjams in general and all the artists involved in the rumor, but it seems that Mr. Waits is so unique in what he does that all those added artists might 'clutter' the experience. Maybe I'm just crazy tho...which is also likely

Dude, you just said Claypool and Hammett. And you're talking about a filter? It would be huge. Claypool and Hammett? Come on. They went to high school together. I hate Metallica as an entity, but Hammett? He meditates and shit, man.

Skol:
I don't mean filter in a negative way, outside of headliners, everyband is a filter of sorts for other artists.
If superjam is on saturday latenight, than you're looking at possibly Phil Lesh, Kanye and Sigur Ros. All three are huge and there would be some staggering but throwing in a Waits tribute superjam would help filter the other shows.
Even if it just ends up being Lesh and Sigur Ros (Kanye at some other time or place), the superjam would still help big time in spreading out people. It's logistics.
I agree that if Waits is there, its momumental. Last year was popular because most people know Z-e-p songs. Superjam will be very popular this year because of Les, hutz and Hammett, but I still think your average bonnaroo attendee would rather hear a primus song versus them covering waits.
I don't know if has been mentioned , but Primus was the backing band for the studio version of "Big in Japan" by Waits off of the album Mule Variations.
Not true. There are artists (in the truest sense of the word) that are worth paying $100, $200 for, and Tom Waits is definitely one of them. Not to sound pretentious, but the man tours so infrequently, and plays such amazing shows, that only charging $100 is a gift. Tickets for his shows in the past have been scalped at $1500. For instance, I was walking into the show at the Ryman a few summers ago and I had a guy offer me $2000 cash for my tickets. He actually showed me the money. I hope this puts things in perspective for folks about how ridiculous a Tom Waits experience is, and just how rabid/obsessed his fan base is.
See... I would have accepted that $2000 and then found someone else and offered them $1500 in cash, and essentially been paid $500 to see Tom Waits blow my mind.
I know, that's what my friend told me when I got back... I didn't even think of it

^^^^^Yeah but I think it is inconsequential to this thread, I mean it doesn't confirm or deny any Tom Waits involvment, all it is is AC Entertainment's description of Bonnaroo
I mean I understand it would make your weekend the best, it would mine too, but I think that paragraph is just a broad generalization, not good for arguing that Waits will be there

I'm not trying to agrue the fact ... I'm hoping... just as we all do in this thread.
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it
Tom Waits is crazy. I'd love to see him added. I'm certainly not counting on it, though, and I'm fine with the line-up as is. Right now, anything else will just be a nice bonus. I can't get too greedy or allow my expectations to get too high, because that will usually just end in disappointment.

I seriously can't get enough of that press conference!
So, let's say the Superjam, whoever it is, whether Waits is there or not, is a group of musicians playing Tom Waits songs. What are some of the songs you all think would be played? Here are a few of my guesses:
Goin' Out West 16 Shells from a 30-Ought 6 Get Behind the Mule
