I just had a thought. We still do not have an answer for that one "roo clue" being something like "the walrus is not Paul" or something like that. We also know that Les, Eugene, and Kirk are doing something but with no mention of a drummer. This points to me to thinking that Ringo will be the drummer for the Superjam this year. Just a thought and I have not heard any mention of this for awhile and thought I would throw my two cents in.
If this would be the case I could see Eddie Vedder singing some songs.
I still think I'm sticking with MMJ rather than go to Superjam. I have a friend who plans to go to Superjam who will call me if any PJ member is part of it. I wonder how long it would take me to get from the Which Stage bleachers to the Other Tent if this happens.

Do you all think they would not announce the Superjam at all? Would they announce at the 'roo? I would hate to miss an amazing set because I am listening to someone else and vice versa.

A good point katbur. I too am torn, as I would choose the Superjam over MMJ is it was Waits covers, but ONLY if it was Waits covers. So I sure as hell want to know beforehand!
In lieu of that though, the original article that started all this seemed pretty damn specific: Hütz, Claypool, and Hammet will be performing Tom Waits covers at the Bonnaroo Superjam. Do we have any real reason to doubt that that much at least is true?

I think that announcing the Superjam will definitely push the sell out of tickets! Last year, as someone said before, the Superjam was announced only about a week before. I had a friend that frantically rounded up cash and got a ticket on internet after it was sold out...she was forced to change her mind by the announcement of the Superjam. This is one of the most looked foreward to things there for a ton of us! Of course they'd announce it last and make us wait! Why not? See you at the Jam man!!!

I could really see them going either way. Announcing it would certainly help them sell more (and sell out?), but not announcing it would keep in tradition and may appease the fans who like that surprise. Also last year partly what they were announcing was JPJ, and thus far it looks like this year's jam will all be artists who are already at the farm.
I see there are still some tickets for some Waits shows available. Does anyone think they have been waiting to sell the tour before announcing him at Roo? Especially since it is the same production company?
Wishful thinking on my part, but since Waits is playing no where near Philly, I am hoping for a Roo appearance.
I'm going to the Philly MMJ show as well. I just am really looking forward to the MMJ late night sets. One of the BIG reasons I am going to Roo this year.

If Waits is not playing with hutz, Claypool and Hammet, I would skip it for MMJ. I like those guys, but I won't miss MMJ for just that. If Waits is there, all bets are off and I have to figure it out.
how about if it is the rumored superjam with hutz claypool and hammet doing waits tunes...do you stick with mmj or check that out ?
Any opportunity to see Tom Waits is too much to pass up... But to see other people covering Waits tunes... I'll skip that and see a band, namely MMJ, playing their own unbelievable songs in epic fashion
I would expect a claypool-run superjam to last longer than two hours, this to me is a good indication that the real article might be there.
That or the blogger is just starting rumors.
In any case i am going to be so conflicted friday night if i don't know what's happening at the superjam. At least if they announce it i can make an easier decision.
If the rumored Superjam comes to pass, do you guys see it as 2 hours plus of Waits covers? Or maybe a little of that and then other assorted rock covers?

^^^^
I figured that it wouldn't be ALL waits covers.......especially if Waits himself isn't actually there. I could see a few Waits covers.....and maybe some other tunes. Claypool has played "Shine on You Crazy Diamond" in the past and it would be cool to see a superjam version of that. But anyway........I'd rather them announce Superjam so I can make a decision.
If I had to pick Waits or MMJ, it would be no contest for me... Waits all the way... But, if Superjam turns out to be a bust of some sort, I'll be at MMJ.
I guess I'm trying to say that Superjam would have to smurf up REALLY bad to make be chose MMJ over it... and I like MMJ, a decent bit.

You know I just thought of this. Why wouldnt this supposed superjam of Les Claypool, Eugene Huts, and Kirk Hammet have to be the "Superjam", but just another one of Les Claypools allstar bands (Colonol Claypool"s Bucket of Bernie Brains, Flying Frog Brigade, Oysterhead, etc). I checked the lineup and Gogol is playing that Saturday, Les is playing Friday early afternoon, and Kirk is of course playing with Metallica. I just thought of this because there has been been no clear indication if it is just Les Claypool, or his fancy band. Just a thought and looks feasible if they really wanted this to happen.
We will all find out real soon I suspect. BOONNNNARROOOO!
"That's the big thing about education. People can be book smart, but not really intelligent about anything else. A lot of times they just taking in all this information and regurgitate it. It's much more important to process it and personalize it. To apply it to your world, to your life. You have to walk the walk, or you can't really report about it honestly."

Well there has really not even been a clear indication Les will be there. I hope we find out at midnight tonight.
