Flaming Lips & weezer are doing two shows, Thursday/Friday in New Jersey & New York, in which they will switch off playing songs in one uber-set... My friend has a 50-50 shot at getting VIP tickets for tomorrow night in New Jersey. If he gets them, we are totally booking an overnight to NJ. I shall soil myself with joy if this happens.
Please call me if this happens! Me and Jack will not be VIP, but we WILL be chillin' on the lawn if you feel like slummin'
;D ;D ;D !!!I CAN NOT WAIT FOR THIS SHOW!!! ;D ;D ;D
*edit Hmm, google maps says you are approx 17 hours away, unless you left right after you posted that, I am now thinking you won't be making it kdogg
My friend heard back from the Redditor offering the freebie VIPs... about an hour before the last flight out of Madison which could have gotten us to the Garden State on time.
^^bah, really sorry to hear that . If it's any consolation, LRH and I were actually scheming up ways to kidnap you for the show in our Facebook messages.
New York City's ONLY Modern Rock station, 101.9WRXP... just went Adult Contemporary Easy Listening
So now there is NO PLACE on the air to hear new music.
Thank GOD I have Sirrius
RIP WRXP, I really liked that station.
Ugh - that reminds me of when WBCN folded a couple years ago, after decades as the most popular alternative rock station in Boston. It then became an easy listening/mix station, and the old mix station became a sports channel... because if there's absolutely one thing Boston doesn't have enough of, it's places to hear about sports.
WFNX (the station that broke the Pixies ) is still around, but this is really the only radio station I listen to anymore, or at least for anything besides oldies or the news - www.wers.org/. It's actually one of the best radio stations I've heard anywhere, not just in Boston. It's pretty pathetic when a college radio station brings its A game every single day, but even the best professional stations in the area struggle to get C's.
I was disappointed when RXP flipped. Was trying to hear it last weekend, and noticed it was some soft crap now. As if New York needed another one of those stations.
And in Boston, FNX might be the only thing I listen to up there now. Maybe ZLX once in a blue moon, but that's gone downhill in recent years.
Thank God I got Sirius now. So, what are your guys favorite stations on there?
