I was not real impressed with the Headliners but the main reason is it is on Father's Day again. I just really did not feel right not being with my kids last year. I am hoping for Echo + went to 'Rado.

i plan on going every year, i feel like i have to be there, i'm not there this year, i'm wishing i was, i'm depressed and pissed off, its my least favorite lineup they've ever had but the lineup is still amazing, there's no other festival like bonnaroo, after looking at this lineup i see 85 bands i would've liked to have seen and remember that i just said this is my least favorite lineup ever, i love bonnaroo cause i live in kentucky so its close, compare roo to lolla, acl and coachella (which are the 4 biggest fests in the country), those other 3 fests will cost me 3 times as much money to go to, and the lineups usually have only 20-30 bands i want to see, i've decided to go to lolla this year, it will be good but it won't be bonnaroo, theres just something about the feeling of being at roo, the vibe, its the only happiness i know and its something i look forward to and think about year round every single day, i'm not there basically because i just started a new job a few weeks ago and they said i couldnt have the time off cause i'm a new employee and they wouldve fired me if i didnt show up, i think its bullcrap because bonnaroo is a vacation that i plan on every year so i know well in advance when it is and that i plan on going, from here on out i will never miss another bonnaroo, there are several reasons why rolling stone named bonnaroo the best festival in the country, you're all smart people, compare bonnaroo to all the other festivals in the country and you can figure it out, you get the most for your money at bonnaroo and i like to think of that 700 acre farm on new bushy branch road as "heaven on earth"
It's funny, we were OK not going because we went to the Smoky Mountains National Park in May for one week, it was defiantly nice to take a week off and go hiking...But as the day drew closer is kinda sucked. Oh well...364 days until we leave for Bonnaroo..
I feel so pathetic. I keep checking craigslist like every thirty minutes waiting to find someone abandoning their wristband for some reason or another. I don't think it's not going that bothers me. I think it's just a matter of being thirty minutes away and not going.

To me, it wouldn't be so bad if I didn't know so many people going (plus being an hour and a half from the farm myself). My Facebook feed keeps showing mobile upload pictures from my friends there, and here I am trying to take my mind off of it.

i voted for capt and tenelle. but the real reason i can't go this year is because my wife's mother is dying. for real. she has lung cancer and its not gonna get better. its gonna be any day now. during the last two years she is the one who watched our kids so me and the wife could go to bonnaroo. now we are taking care of her. its sad. so goes the circle of life.
i really hope everyone has a great time at the farm. enjoy some corn and listen to some great music under that amazing nite sky. say hello to willie, BB and dweezil for me. and tell Lars i said SUCK IT! lol

It seems like the way it is run is just going downhill . . . more arbitrary rules, less organization in the areas that need it, and less music that I am interested in.
Even still, I started to feel a little heartache when it was getting closer and I really started realizing that I was going to miss it.
But, I just talked to Josh, and he was telling me about the 3 hour wait to get into Centeroo last night (even at the back entrance), and how the woman at the gate just threw away the sealed food that he had in his bag without at least giving him the opportunity to take it back to camp (even though he pointed out the thing in the guidebook that says you can bring small, sealed portions of snack food into Centeroo), and how the people camped around him blasted metal all night . . . and then I remembered why I didn't want to go this year!
I should add that he did say he saw Battles last night and really enjoyed it. He also met some people that he really liked and had fun hanging out with, so it isn't all bad.

3 hours?? holy hell... how do they lose 15,000-20,000 people at the festie and manage to increase wait times?? I never once had to wait more than 30 minutes max to get into Centeroo last year...
And as for the people blasting metal... that's just crazy. I would love to think that he just got really unlucky with his spot next to some metalheads, rather than know the choice in representation from the metal genre at Roo actually had that significant of an impact on the crowd...

^^Yeah, we were wondering the same thing about how there could be so many less people, but the lines be longer than ever!
As for the crowd, he said it definitely feels different overall.
I was thinking about this, though, and I don't want to give the impression that he is just hating it. He did say he had a really fun night last night, and he has met some really cool people. When I talked to him, he was on his way to go ahead and make sure he was in the best possible spot for Les, which promises to be a good time! (I don't know if he remembered it, but he was supposed to bring our copy of South of the Pumphouse in hopes that Les would sign it.)

I know how you feel, I lost my Mother when I was 30 (2000)...I can't say how sorry I am.
i'm not there because i couldn't get time off from work. there are other reasons but i would have ignored all of them if i could get off work. but we are do our own mini-roo, tonight robert randolph, plant & krauss tomorrow and pearl jam mon.
I couldn't go cuz I just got back from Thailand and in the negative w/ vacation days. Also, lineup is lacking some bonnaroo staples. that is crazy about wait times. I don't think i ever had to wait longer than 30 min the previous 3 times i went.
I live only about 25 minutes away from Bonnaroo (Tullahoma), and there's really no excuse for me to go. But, I didn't this year because: A) I'm on probation, and I don't think it's a good idea, and B, C & D) All my money goes to probation, couldn't get 4 days off in a row at work, and the line-up didn't excite as much.
I do regret it though. I work in a grocery store that's on the edge of Tullahoma that's near the main road going to Manchester. We get alot of people coming through town going to 'Roo and people coming back for the afternoon/night and all that stuff. Makes me think about last year and miss it so dearly.
Who did you know that went religiously from the main Motlow campus?! When I went it seemed like almost all of the students and teachers were religious nutcases.
Except Dr. Bean. The best Professor imo from all of the schools I've attended.

Well, I went from 05-07. Do names like Aldorn, Taylor, Blake, Tristan, ect. ring a bell?
Also, last year at Bonnaroo I hung out with Brian Robinson (art professor). We watched Rx Bandits together, and would have seen Ween together but he was working at a beer tent. That guy is awesome, even though I never had any of his art classes.
Also, what did Dr. Bean teach? Don't remember hearing that name around.
I don't recognize any of those names off hand. I only went for the fall semester last year. Bean was the head Psych professor. He always gave the kids in our classes a hard time. He'd accuse them of doing drugs and they'd freak out and get offended, among a million other zany things.

Ah, I had Guerin for Psych at Motlow. He was extremely nice but his class was pretty damn boring. I'm at home for the summer, but I'm at MTSU. I graduate next spring. Saving up for college is the main reason why I couldn't go this year.
What about Jeannie Brown? She teaches the speech classes and heads the theatre department.
Tristan Brewer? I grew up with Tristan and was best friends with him throughout school up until 9th grade. Still see him around town too when he comes into Food Lion.

small world. haha.
Haha yes! Small world indeed! Last time I saw him was when I visited the Motlow campus back in April. Last I heard he's moving to Johnson City, transfering to ETSU.
I'm pretty sure he's transferring to Motlow, last time I saw him was about a month ago in the Food Lion parking lot, and we just say 'hey' to each other and walked on. But I know he graduated from Motlow this year, saw it in the Lynchburg newspaper. Good for him, though.
But yeah, i'm positive he's at Bonnaroo right now. I vaguely remembering seeing him when I was at Tool last year.

I met up with him for a little bit after Ween last year. Him and Kyle Bordnet, Aldorn Noe, and Taylor Vanwormer.
Yeah, he was all up in the art program at Motlow. Even though I had no art classes, I would always hang out with Tristan, the aforementioned art professor who I hung out with at Roo also, and others for obscene amounts of time in Eoff Hall at Motlow. Really cool people. I miss that place.
