I think the one for The Room is a fake. I just found it on some random fanboy's tumblr. It gave me a good laugh though, just because there are many questionable titles in the Criterion Collection already. (Armageddon anyone?)
The Room one is definitely fake. They're still banking on their DVD release and it just got its first Blu Ray release in December (suggested retail for the thing is near-Criterion levels, anyway).
For Repo Man, it is a legit cult classic and a Criterion release seems a good bit more understandable, still caught me attention and stands out from their usual releases. I know CC has put out oddball flicks like Hausu (which makes perfect sense), Salo (who buys this?), and the aforementioned Armageddon (yeah, I've got nothing as to the why of this), but nothing quite like this. It's about like seeing Re-Animator, Frankenhooker, or Street Trash get a Criterion Release.
Just looked up The Room's Blu-Ray release on Amazon:
"The Room Blu-ray will feature the first ever option of Combination Languages (CL) Combo Languages in which you can view multiple subtitles on screen simultaneously. It is the first Blu-ray format in the world"
I read everything regarding The Room in Tommy Wiseau's voice; it brings much joy to my heart.
I don't know what'd be funnier regarding the "combination subtitles": if they covered over one another making both a jumble of illegible words or if they were one on top of the other, taking up half the screen.
Either way, two subtitles are clearly better than one.
Considering that they've added Armageddon and Kindergarten Cop recently, this wouldn't be much of a stretch. Though, I'd take Tommy Wiseau over Michael Bay any day.
Watched Sexy Beast last night. Incredible. I love Jonathan Glazer.
I've always really liked this movie, I rented it multiple times when it first came out on video. Kingsley is unreal, some great chewing of scenery here... Winstone is good, as well. One of very few English language movies that I absolutely have to see with subtitles... it may just be me, but these are some thick, almost unintelligible accents in this thing.

There were parts where it sounded like they were speaking a foreign language.

It's been a while since I've watched this, so challenge accepted! I haven't spent years training watching BBC for nothing.
^It was one of my favorite releases from last year... not really because it was an amazing documentary, but because I was already a fan of his before this thing was put into motion, and 1) it was really awesome to see him on film and talking about his music and everything along with it, 2) the part about how popular he was in South Africa was news to me and something that I found really interesting, and 3) that the actual technical quality of the piece was great. Nothing outstanding or really new in the sense of being a documentary, but I still loved it... the last 20 minutes drag a bit, but I think that was more my ADHD.
So has anyone seen Spring Breakers yet? I seriously considered leaving the theater about 30 minutes in. Then, once James Franco's character emerged (possibly his best acting performance to date), the movie actually got really awesome, albeit ridiculous. I would hate-f*ck this movie.
