^Unfortunately if the mods are sometimes a bit light handed, I think you would have a propensity for being a little heavy handed, and I prefer it the way it is. Honestly it is not like they are not locking ten plus threads a day.

Sir, I think you misunderstand me. Most conflagrations can be resolved with words, logic, and reason. Only those that cannot would be subject to the banhammer.
Even if I get slightly irritated with the situation, it is nowhere near as irritated as I would get if you actually made jugs a moderator .

I'm confused - people don't want a forum that is informational and edifying, where ideas can be exchanged and discussed, free of endless repeat threads, trolls, and uninformed ranting?
I'd bring the banhammer. Do the dirty work, keep all your hands clean. People wouldn't say "oh, Mods, you're all evil," they'd be all "oh, Mods, Juggs locked my sh*tty post!" Then you could be all "sorry pal, hands tied." That's pretty much the basis behind plausible deniability right there.

I think the threads you have issues with are part of what makes this board what it is. The fact the we are generally light handed mods in the first place makes this a great msg board...

Agree to disagree, though there seems to be a lot of sentiment the opposite way (comments made in this very thread by longtime, quality posters).
That said, I have noticed over the past day that ridiculous nonsense is much quicker to get the hook, so kudos.

But, if you look back at this thread, there have only been maybe 5 or 6 people (I didnt count, just going off memory) that have supported your sentiment. thats a pretty small percentage considering the amount of members we have.

A man was walking along the beach one day, when he saw that, after high tide, thousands upon thousands of starfish had been left, stranded on the sand. Walking down the beach was a young girl, who was picking up the starfish, one by one, and throwing them back into the ocean.
The man ran up to her and said "you're going to put them all back? That's crazy, there are so many! You can't make a difference!"
The girl paused, looked at the starfish in her hand, and said "it makes a difference to this one."

Unfortunately, despite the outpouring of support from many long-time posters (who would rather the forum be something useful, rather than a shouting board for any idiot who wants to title a thread "BATTLES!" with the content "I really think Battles should play wat do you guys think i think it would be aweome1"), it would appear that I'd need to get some sort of majority here. And that won't happen, because the fools who enjoy posting inane, terrible, trollish garbage wouldn't be pleased.
It's sort of like, what would happen if you canceled a TV show like The Jersey Shore? A large outpouring of idiots would be heartbroken, while those people who seek intelligence and rationality in their entertainment would be pleased. Unfortunately, the latter is much smaller in number than the former.

It's been a lot better in the Troo music lounge the last day or two. Good work mods.
It's unavoidable that we'll get new threads I guess. Either trolls coming here to push people's buttons or new members who aren't familiar yet with the place will pop up new threads. Once the lineup comes out it should die down a bit and the talk will be focused more on the acts Roo does have

While we're on the subject...is there a way to look up (as a mod) the IP address that each poster is posting from? There have been a few accounts that popped up in support of this "Martian" fellow over the past day or so, and we're all suspicious that they're the same guy. Anyway to check?

Hell, at this point I just want to know if this Martian character is for real. If I was modding, I'd be more interested in finding that out than in banning anyone right now.

^Well banning multiple accounts if you find them. PM Dirty Jerzee, wooz, or roofan, and let them know your suspicions. For what it is worth I kind of think you are right, and it is obnoxious if true. Also it is important to remember we have a lot of lurkers and some just can't take it when they see a rumor so they sign up and join in.
