Animal Collective-Merriweather Post Pavilion Grizzly Bear- Veckatimest Yeah Yeah Yeahs- It's Blitz Pains of Being Pure at Heart- S/T Andrew Bird- Noble Beast
All of these albums are amazing, but I think by the end of the year, with a proper release of the high quality recording, Grizzly Bear will be the best album of the year, with AnCo coming a close second.
Hazards of Love is REALLY good too. But Grizzly Bear, man, I loved Yellow House, but this new one puts it to shame. It is a breathtakingly gorgeous album to say the least.
Make sure to give it a few listens. I thought it kinda died out at the end when I first started listening to it, but now I have to listen to the whole thing. It keeps growing on me.
I have to agree with all those that said Crack the Skye. I'm really digging the new K'naan right now, but it probably won't hold up as a favorite for the year.
Awesome! - Extra Golden - Thank You Very Quickly, Five Peace Band Live, Amadou and Mariam - Welcome to Mali
Good - Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears - Tell em What Your Name Is, Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion, Charles Spearin - The Happiness Project
I won't make a list since its way too soon, but the new Dalek album Gutter Tactics and Megaritual and Cryptomnesia by Omar Rodriguez-Lopez are really good.
