I was laying in bed watching it, and I honestly had to get up during those last 10 minutes. I had put it together already that Todd's uncle already had the coordinates, but as soon as Hank called Marie, my stomach hit my feet. After that, I only knew it was a matter of where the episode would cut it off.
P.S. I had previously posted that vague spoiler where Anna Gunn (I think) said the entire 8 episode run was a thrill ride but things hit another level after the first 5. Looks like she was not kidding.
i was curious as to how they were going to unravel this in a believable way. A lot of people were floating theories about Lydia ordering the act that sends Walt on the lam, which wouldn't have worked IMO. This, however, worked very well, really well done.
Yeah, I actually felt that the last two episodes have done a fantastic job of bringing him back his vulnerabilities and weaknesses after him running around like king of the hardasses for a while.
I am dying to get into this thread but I'm just now in the middle of season 4. It's hard though, not reading through and not clicking on the spoilers. Hopefully I'll be caught up enough soon.
I'm putting all the blame on my not being able to fall asleep on this episode.
I can back you up on that. My entire plan was to go to bed right after Breaking Bad since I didn't get much sleep Saturday night and work early. That plan did not work at all. It does have to share blame because I foolishly turned on the Giants-Cowboys game with my fantasy game riding on the Cowboys defense, so that game was also to a lesser extent stress inducing.

I think Jesse, Hank, and Gomez all die here. How can they not? This will kick start hanks transformation into the lonely disheveled character we've seen in the flash forward scenes.

Jesse isn't armed. I don't see him picking up a gun from Hank and Gomez to join the fight. They also know he was Walt's former partner, so I could definitely see them leveraging Jesse into being Todd's "mentor".

I don't know what's going to happen with Jesse during the shoot out, but for some reason I don't see all three dying at once like that. On the other hand, I don't see why they would keep him alive as that's why they came in the first place.. I actually think maybe Hank and Gomez will take out a couple of them, possibly including Todd himself, throwing a wrench in the operation and making things worse for Walt trying to get out of the business.
I do agree that I think hank and Gomez will get a couple of them, and maybe during the commotion of the gun fight, Jesse makes a run for it and gets out of there. CKS said her only complaint of this episode was whispering dialogue. My only complaint, and this happens all the time in film/tv is how horrible of a shooter everyone is. 6 or 7 guys have their guns pointed at Hank or Gomez, who are not protected by anything, probably close to 50 shots are fired, and no one gets hit. It's just so unbelievable.

They were only killing Jesse in order to leverage Walt to cook. They had no investment in him aside from that. Walt specifically and angrily stated that Jesse was no rat, so I don't think they would worry about that as much especially when they can watch over him in that isolated spot where they are cooking and then murder him when Todd is up to par. One of the main dynamic shifts between Walt and Todd's uncle is that Walt, at his core, has some kind of honor code, i.e. his extreme reluctance to kill Jesse. Todd's uncle, on the other hand, has exhibited that he is going to exploit whatever situation to his advantage. This is a chance to do that with Jesse.

I am able to let my suspension of disbelief handle that one for me. In reality, Todd sucks, but the other guys were aiming down the sights with handguns, an aa12 and an assault rifle. Gomez was basically standing in the open for a couple seconds when they opened fire. No way he doesn't die right then.
