Seriously though, the 120 is well worth the extra money. It works great out of the box, but if you get real crazy about vinyl down the road you can upgrade the pre-amp and the cartridge.

I'm leaning that way as of now.
Edit - If I have to choose between the 60 and records with it or the 120 with no records, I may go with the 60.
I'd spring for the 120. I haven't heard either, but if its 60 & records or 120 & no records, I'd go for the better turntable and then accumulate your own records.
You can get used records much cheaper than new records, and the thing is most of the time the older records sound better, assuming they are in good physical condition. The price of current production vinyl stays pretty high because that's what people want, shiny new vinyl, but if you are willing to poke around in shops you can get great older pressings for a lot less money.
And for me used records are the kind of thing you want to buy in a brick and mortar store, not online.

Poking around random shops for hidden gems is the best part of owning a turn table.
I just picked up a very nice Pioneer PL-7 delivered for a Franklin. You can still get some nice older (vintage for something from the 80's does not seem right) equipment for a nice price.
If you're looking to get a boxed set, you might want to check with Barnes and Noble. They are offering 30% off on their website on one item (with free shipping over $25). Neko Case's new album box set is $132 (instead of the $199 price everywhere else).
I have an eye infection and a sinus infection so I stayed out of everyone's way today and didn't go to any record stores.
If, by some divine provenance, someone sees a copy of the Spoon release and wants to get it for me, I'll pay for it + shipping + $5 or a quality beer at 'Roo next year

Ahh I should have checked my phone before leaving my record store in Oxford, MS. They had about 7-8 of these left. If I happen to head back that way this week, I will check and see if they have any more if someone hasn't responded to you before then.
Our local store is usually packed but it was empty today and they were stocked with just about everything... I got:
Maybe it's my ears and I just never noticed it before, but I listened to Kid A on vinyl for the first time today and there seem to be some small instrumental breaks in between tracks that aren't present in the digital version. Is this a common feature on vinyl records?

Sound Stage Direct has some great vinyl deals - 15% everything in stock with LP15 as a coupon code. Free shipping over $49.99+ orders. Including pre-orders.
Preorder for the new Animal Collective album "Painting With" is up on AnCo's store
You choose from 3 different cover options of either Panda Bear, Avey Tare, or Geologist (I went with Panda Bear), and it includes a 7" too.
The coolest part is the slipmat it comes with. The slipmat is a "12” zoetropic turntable slipmat, designed by Elliot Schultz, that animates when used in conjunction with a strobe light."
Here's a video example:
Super trippy, and can't wait to check it out in person.
Zappa- Feeding Monkies at the Ma Maison (posthumously released synclavier album ca. Jazz from Hell) Like A Puppet Show- John Malkovich reading Plato.....shit is so trippy. Some of the best vinyl packaging ever too. Tenacious D: Live- Really fun The Sword- High Country 2xlp picture disc, niceeee
My vinyl collection was overflowing and my bookcase looked like it was about to collapse... so after thorough research, I got one of these as a black Friday sale at Wal-Mart (comes in several colors and cheaper at Wal-Mart):
So I picked up The Stash Christmas album on vinyl off discogs. It's a jazz/big band/blues album of various artists doing a whole range of Christmas songs. It came in the mail today and is just awesome. The Louis Armstrong tracks that round out the second side are probably alone worth whatever I paid for it. It's gonna be so fun to listen to this one on vinyl.
Check out the tracklist....it's a nice little collection.
A1 Lightning Hopkins - Merry Christmas A2 Clarence Williams Blue Five - Santa Claus Blues A3 Ozie Ware With Duke Ellington's Hot Five - Santa Claus, Bring Back My Man A4 Putney Dandridge And His Swing Band - Santa Claus Came In The Spring A5 Harry Reser & His Orchestra - Santa Caus Is Coming To Town A6 Paul Whiteman And His Orchestra - Christmas Night In Harlem A7 Ted Weems And His Orchestra - Winter Wonderland A8 Benny Goodman & His Orchestra/The Rhythmakers - Jingle Bells

Picked up the super groovy Transformers 1986 movie soundtrack from RSD this year.
And blew my personal budget on the Rammstein boxset just released, but I couldn't say no to it. They're one of my all time favorite bands and the first four albums sound fantastic. They also blew up all the CD album jackets and they look amazin'!
My "work in progress" vinyl collection. It's not big but I see progress.
My goals of 2016 are to: 1. Get a small storage compartment for single vinyls 2. Work on more classic vinyl missing (LZ, etc) that I enjoy
What Ryan Adams box is that on the top?
It was one of the first vinyl items I bought when I started collecting several years ago - it was released back in 2012 and has several of his live performances:
Is it unopened? It looks like it's still new. I love Ryan Adams and just got the NY show box set but am looking into this one.
It is unopened... it, the box behind it, and my recent RSD purchases are probably my only unopened vinyl. I am saving Live After Dark for a specific anniversary coming up in a couple of years to honor the memory of someone (maybe doing one album per day from the set).
Aside from it, I usually always open my vinyl and use it - it seems sad when it stays in its package and not get any use. I do use the sleeves to protect the normal albums after I open them, though. I will let you know afterwards how it is - I love the track listings.
Wow, I just looked it up and it looks awesome. Too bad it's over $1,000 on Discogs haha. Definitely worthy of an important anniversary occasion.
Ouch - that's ridiculous. Maybe he will re-release it soon on Pax AM. It sold out the first day it was released in 2012 so it has to have a good demand.
