I finally got my new Mac DeMarco album in today... and the label on Side B's label is twisted back slightly. Question - would you contact the label? The album plays great. It's a limited edition directly from the label so I am not even sure if they would have more in stock. Thoughts? I am considering just not even bothering with it. I think it would only be an issue if it obstructed the play of the album.

i personally would not. like you, if it doesn't obstruct play of the album I don't think it's a big deal.
Some vinyl people are super OCD about their purchases and would choose to return it. Vinyl isn't cheap so I wouldn't begrudge them that, but to me the time investment is just more trouble than it's worth.
Got an Audio Technica LP60 today for a decent price from my favorite record store after a punch card discount. So far, pretty satisfied with it, but I already want to save up for an upgrade and put this in another room. Also picked these up over the last week:
Busta Rhymes - Woo-Hah! 12" single Q-Tip - Vivrant Thing 12" single Van Morrison - Veedon Fleece Moby - Feeling So Real Remixes Danny Brown - Atrocity Exhibition
Edit: Oh, and Tangerine Dream - Stratosphere... as well, I should be getting Chrome "Blood On The Moon" in the mail today.
not sure what your budget is for a new table, but i've got a rega p3/24 with speed controller and a rega exact 2 cartridge that's been sitting unused for years. only a couple hundred hours on the setup all in. looking to get $600 for it. i just hate selling things on ebay or audiogon. i bought the TT + speed controller on closeout for $900 several years ago, then bought the exact 2 used for $300.

As a collector, I kind of view comic books and vinyl in the same light... in comics, production defects are kind of a niche market, and thus demand more of a premium. So, I think, vinyl should be the same, unless if affects play. But I don't think most record collectors look at it that way...
Buncha cool records came into 2nC recently, and I'm kind of on the fence on some of them: Talking Heads "Stop Making Sense" and "Remain In Light" original pressings for $20, Frank Zappa "Hot Rats" original pressing for $30, Santana "Abraxas" original pressing for $12, to name the highlights... being on a more limited budget after buying a new player, I only got this one:
Van Morrison - His Band and the Street Choir
Also, one of the local record shops got in all three records in the NIN "The Perfect Drug remixes" promo set (this: www.discogs.com/sell/release/331943?ev=rb) ... they're thinking of pricing it at $100 and putting it on eBay, but I'm very close to trading in a few lesser key comics toward this. While the these remixes are not that great, this seems like a really rare set and something I'd love to just have in my collection.
just got confirmation that my Childish Gambino vinyl shipped.
I can't wait to hear reviews... the folks on reddit are impressed with the quality and packaging. The only mild criticism was the VR concert being "okay" (but I would be more into the vinyl than the VR stuff). I love that album.
Word on reddit is that the albums might ship late May.
i keep forgetting i ordered pretty much every piece of vinyl the store offered one night after Day For Night in December. will have a dope one man NIN vinyl party when they show up. thanks for the update.
I was listening to Feist's new album and Side B of the second vinyl is completely etched and unplayable. I had never seen this on vinyl before. Side A of the vinyl had four songs on it. It's an excellent-looking etched design (pardon my poor quality image - I tried to lighten it as much as possible but had a glare). Is this mainly something for a cool appearance? The vinyl seems quieter than normal, too... I had to turn my speakers up from my previous record I had played. It sounded good, though, once I had the volume adjusted.
David Bowie - Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps) (original US promo) Prince - Dirty Mind Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt, and Emmylou Harris - Trio The Byrds - Turn Turn Turn The Byrds - Mr. Tambourine Man Cass McCombs - Mangy Love
I remember reading somewhere the indie exclusive is colored, maybe black/white. Maybe Vinyl Factory? The reg link is up on Amazon as well, as well as many other sites.
I've been wanting some Le Butcherettes on vinyl for a while now, but never got around to it. Just rummaging through the new vinyl section of Manifest hoping to find something decent in their half off selected records sale, this just jumped right out. As I usually do, I check to see if what I'm paying for it is fair... literally no copies of this to be found on either eBay or Amazon, and only one copy listed on Discogs with a $90 asking price. I'm thinking I may keep this one sealed and just play the mp3s as usual... it sold for as high as $112 on Discogs and the most recent sale on eBay was $49.99 for a used copy. After the 50% off sale, it ended up being just over $13.
I received my David Bowie "No Plan" EP today on white vinyl. I posted last week about Feist's new vinyl having an entire side etched. This EP also has Side B etched with an interesting looking design.
Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention - We're Only In It For The Money (original US pressing... yes, I just bought this a month or so ago at a record fair, but for $10 and in VG+ shape, couldn't pass it up) Soft Cell - Non Stop Erotic Cabaret Soft Cell - The Art of Falling Apart Microdisney - Crooked Mile (US promo... first time I've seen a Microdisney record, actually)
These came in the mail yesterday:
The Legendary Pink Dots - Any Day Now (my first LPD vinyl, and it's a great one!) The Tear Garden - Have A Nice Trip
I'm a little irked by the Tear Garden record, actually. The band has been running a pledge fund to get the ball rolling on their now completed 7th full length album. This is also supposed to be the first time they've actually been in the studio together to make an album since the 90s, so it's a pretty big deal to fans. Anyway, they're offering autographed items to help with the pledge, such as records, cds, and posters... well, come to find out, the record that I was supposed to have signed actually came new in shrinkwrap, with a loose card or sticker (can't tell) signed by Edward Ka Spel and Cevin Key, which would be cool if that's how it was advertised. But, the posters, CDs, and LPs advertised as "signed" merely come with a separate signed piece. Either way, glad the new album is coming, and it's great to hear their most recent album on record.
