I had a little bit of money from getting paid and decided to swing by my record store after putting in a few hours of work today. Took a while just to browse around. They still have a bunch of copies of a bunch of Record Store Day stuff in case anyone is interested. Plenty of Phish and Grateful Dead boxes, and a ton of other stuff.
Anyway, I ended up picking up Neil Young - A Letter Home and then stumbled upon a White Stripes release I never knew existed. I guess it's a live release/unofficial thing but I saw it and it grabbed it immediately.
Yea, I read that after getting it. My store had it for $20 so I was pretty happy with that. When I looked it up on my phone quick in the store the only copies I found were $40-50 or more but I think when I looked up some picture disc ones online they were relatively cheap.
I am just glad to have another album of White Stripes Live stuff to add to my collection. I had never heard of/seen this before. Don't mind that it's not "rare" or whatever.

It sounded okay. Not amazing but not too low or messed up. I can't tell if it's the record or if Jack White's voice was just that high back in 2001 because it sounds a little high pitched but it could just be him with a younger voice.
Definitely not the same quality as some of the live Vault releases but it's serviceable. I mainly got it because the tracklist had a handful of great songs that I wasn't sure I had on record.
Summer is almost here so we thought we'd kick things off with something HOT...Hot Chip that is (see what we did there?)
This month's album package contains not one, but TWO beautiful colored vinyl discs (2LP) and the most beautiful 12" x 12" art print we've laid eyes on it quite some time. Oh yeah, and just so you don't think we misplaced priorities, the music is a joyous dance wonderland that is sure to provide you with one prolonged, glorious summer jam.

Also, what are everyone's thoughts about the new "Vinyl Tuesday" thing that will be happening? Record Store Day is supposedly creating a once-a-week thing to get people into stores.

Also known as "record release day?"
Yea, but I think there was some talk about doing special releases or exclusives on Tuesdays. Honestly, I haven't read up too much about it but I know people on Reddit were throwing hissy fits since they mostly hate Record Store Day.

I basically hate it too at this point. It's so hard to get records pressed anymore, the last thing we need is tchotchke-ified records coming out on a weekly basis. Just go buy the regular new shit.

Yea, the big complaint from people (and it's a reasonable one) is how there are so many cash-grab records pressed now. Like, labels and owners of songs realize that people flock to this day so instead of actually putting time and effort into re-pressing a nice copy of something that was lost or never on vinyl they just toss an mp3 version onto wax and jack up the price. There are definitely always some releases that have love put into them and time spent on getting the sound quality just right but there are now a ton of subpar stuff being released for inflated prices.
Also, with limited pressing plants around the country getting stuff pressed for Record STore Day can cause delays and issues with other stuff trying to be made at the same time.

I just signed up for the email list for this site. They are going to be doing some kickstarter or something along those lines and be making a bunch of wooden Vinyl racks/containers. I may sign up for one of the table-top things but we'll see when the prices actually come out. I found out about it on Reddit but nobody is sure yet if it'll be worth it or garbage. Anyway....couldn't hurt to sign up for the email updates for when it actually comes out (I think they said the fundraiser period will last 25 days or some junk)
So was helping my old man clean out my parents attic, and came across his record collection that we thought had been accidentally thrown out a long time ago... Roughly 200 all in for the most part almost perfect condition, just need to be cleaned. All the old Elton John, Santana, bob Dylan, grandfunk, Beatles, jethro till, temptations, Jim Croce, the who, fleet wood Mac... And a shit load more... I am going to have a hard time leaving the house for a while now...
Is anyone on here rich enough to afford to splurge on the new My Morning Jacket deluxe vinyl set with a jigsaw ouzzle of the album cover? It sounds fun but I don't know if I can spend $90 or so.

Definitely not rich but...
I am so jealous!!!! Maybe I should rephrase that original post to say "has enough extra money to get a good vinyl set". Hehe
Jigsaw puzzles are a hobby of mine - how many pieces? And do you like the other goodies that came with it? I love the album. I think the first song is the only track I haven't really connected with - the rest are outstanding.
