stop making sense 40th anniversary vinyl and 4k bluray preorder is up.
i assume that's not really any sonically different from the remastered vinyl that came out last summer alongside the movie (and sounds fucking incredible)

I'd assume the same. I was really more excited about the 4k Blu-ray ☺️
Ok I thi k we have hit the wall on getting overcharged for shipping. Did everyone get rid of media mail and now think priority mail is just better? Nobody wants to pay $15 to ship a record that costs $25. Thats just criminal.
This box set has been on sale for $34. Picked it up a few weeks ago and it is excellent! Includes a four hour concert film, so now I have to shop for a DVD player.

Well fuck, paid a lot more than that when it came out. This rules album though
I come to you all, excitingly, with more audio setup problems. Tonight I noticed my turntable was unplugged, but after I plugged it back and and tried playing a record afterwards, the sound coming out of my speakers was at approximately 1/3rd the volume it normally is. I've unplugged/replugged in the turntable power on both ends multiple times, unplugged/replugged in the amplifier, and tried other records; I haven't messed with the speaker wire because I'd rather not but the sound is definitely coming out of both speakers. Has anybody had this problem before?
I am starting to increasingly think it’s just that the speaker has blown out and I can’t find anyone who really repairs Pioneer speakers around here. Anyone have some non-Pioneer recommendations for speakers?
new speaker day! Kef LS50. i've avoided trying these for years because they are ubiquitous and insanely popular. listening last night was a good reminder that sometimes things are really popular because they are really good. picked up at a hefty discount from accessories4less, the sketchy looking website that is actually quite awesome.
the deal with these is the tweeter is mounted coaxially, creating time alignment so that the higher frequencies are reaching your ears at the same time as the other frequencies. the result is tonal coherency, and tone is the most important thing to me. but it also creates a crazy good soundstage.
i'm running these with a small sealed subwoofer (that little black box to the right in the picture) with the low pass on 80hz. this little SVS sub made me a believer in the bookshelves + subwoofer combo, i've always preferred tower speakers. now i'm thinking of replacing my HT towers + center with three of these LS50s instead. beauty is in the eye of the beholder but i think they look cool too.
had a lot of fun last night going through my speaker test playlist.
