Did I read that correctly, that this show actually induced a riot?
So it should come as no surprise that we’d pair this LP with DVD footage from that performance. Words do not ably describe the beauty of the Teatro Amazonas nor the furor riled up by the White Stripes appearance. Not only was there fear that the amplification of the band would cause the plaster in the building to crack and possible fall and injure attendees, but out of custom/fear/lord-knows-what the crowd remained seated until being explicitly asked to stand from the stage by Jack White himself. If that wasn’t enough, during the show Jack and Meg ventured outside the venue to play an entirely unamplified version of “We Are Going to Be Friends” for the assembled multitude of fans unable to purchase tickets and watching the performance via closed-circuit feed. The resultant melee was arguably a riot and was lovingly captured by the film crew documenting that evening’s importance. All together what it makes is one of the best true rock and roll moments of the past decade. Heck, Jack White even got married that day.
New to the game here. What do y'all use to clean your stylus?
Onzow Zerodust:
In fact its the only thing I've used to ever clean a stylus, which means I've been using the same one for several years. You just lower it into the little jelly thing using your cueing lever, then raise it. Dust stays on the jelly thing. To get the dust out of the jelly thing I rinse with cold water, sometimes adding just a touch of dawn.

I always just used a Swiffer to clean my albums and stylus, and I never had any issues. That ZeroDust looks fancy, and it reminds me why vinyl is among the more expensive hobbies that doesn't require rehab.
$40 does seem steep especially considering I'm just planning on this being a minor hobby, but I sure as hell don't trust my clumsy ass to just pull it off with my fingers and my huff and puff and blow it off method hasn't worked either. Might as well give it a shot.
I've seen a few places that you can just drop the stylus onto a magic eraser.

The new D'Angelo vinyl was supposed to be released this week and now it's been pushed back until May 25th! (Amazon even says December 2015, although they probably just assigned a random date since it hasn't been verified).
I got my copy of I Love You, Honeybear tonight! Safe to say I'm in love with this record. Holy crap. So many of these songs have me grinning from ear to ear. I can't wait to keep listening and find more things I love about it.
Now, more importantly, the packaging. The cover art is really cool. Can anyone tell me what painting style that artwork is? I know I have seen it before. And you get an awesome little surprise when you open it up.
This is the deluxe edition, btw. So buy the more expensive one if you see it in a record store and you want a sweet pop up!
PS. That's a link to my instagram video of the album. You may have to double click it twice to get it to play.
someone asked for the vinyl me please pieces that came with the father john misty album - here they are! I'll put both the vinyl me please extra goodies and the album goodies on here - there's SO MUCH.
spoilered to save room/keep it a surprise if you're waiting for yours.

So, the turntable I decided to start my collection with was the ATLP60. I chose this model because it was on the cheap end that still received recommendations. I wasnt sure how serious I was going to take this endeavor, and I didn't want to dump a bunch of money into it at first if it didn't materialize into an actual hobby.
I've noticed that some brand new lps have been skipping. I looked into it online, and it seems that most believe this happens on this particular model because of the quality of the player. I am unable to control the tracking weight (I think that's what it's called) of the tone arm.
Most say to throw in the towel on this model and upgrade, and while I do intend to do this at some point, I can't do it now. Another suggestion I saw was to tape something like a paper clip on the tone arm to add a little extra weight. Is this something that any of you have done or would do? I really don't have any other complaints about the turn table, and it only skips on certain records, but not every one. If manually adding a small amount of weight to the tone arm will prevent skipping, that's good enough for me in the short run. Thanks in advance for any help.

You can't control the tracking force? Thats a bummer. If so taping something to the headshell could work. The only problem is you need to know what your tracking force is so you aren't damaging your records. If you are tracking heavier then what is recommended for your cartridge damage could occur. However, adding weight in this way to the headshell will also increase overall tonearm mass, which could also affect the resonant frequency of your tonearm, possibly causing warbling sounds. I doubt adding something as small as a paperclip could make this happen but its possible.
Anyway back to the tracking force issue, you could buy a Shure Stylus Gauge. You can measure your tracking force with this. The recommended force for your particular cartridge should be available online somewhere. When you do upgrade your table you'll need something like the Shure anyway.

Hmmm. It's very hard to find any definitive answers on this turntable. In the user manual it says that the cartridge is a "Integral Dual Magnet stereo cartridge with diamond stylus" but when I type this into google it takes me to one that I am sure is not mine. It also seems like it is not possible to change the cartridge, just the stylus, which is ATN3600L.
On audio technica's support page someone asked what the tracking force of this particular turntable was and a staff member responded with "3.0 grams." This is a lot heavier than most of the cartridges I've seen. Perhaps light tracking force is not my problem.

I'm considering pulling the trigger on a Music Hall MMF 2.2 that comes loaded with the Tracker MM phono cartridge. I found a new one for $400 and was wondering if anyone has anything to say about this system. I am basically looking for a mid-range setup that do the job until I get the money saved up for a VPI.

I forgot to ask this back when Vault Package #22 was delivered, but did anybody have side C1-4 mislabeled as D1-4? My white copy has the D1-4 label on both sides. Wondering how many copies went out like this? I'll post a picture later if I remember. My box was also damaged in transit. The box is ripped in one corner and doesn't slip over box properly. They definitely should use a better shipping method for something so rare in case the shipping box gets mishandled in transit.

so I'm part of vinyl me please, but I have to say, j dilla isn't totally in my musical wheelhouse. the record packages VMP sends out are so awesome and the entire package is well done, so I want someone who will really appreciate this record to have it - not someone like me where it'll likely collect dust on my shelf.
soooo. if you aren't part of VMP and want this bad boy when it ships, let me know. we can work something out

When is the cutoff to sign up for that one? Or did that pass already?
