Just rolled by my record store. They got 25 copies of the Elvis 10" in from third man and the owner told me he's never had anyone line up before 8am! (Last year in CT I lined up at 1am and was 30th in line)
Not much else to do in Connecticut?
People are just early to EVERYTHING in the northeast. So when there's something that people are supposed to line up for, people lose their shit and overdo it

What store do you go to in New Orleans? I stopped into Peaches once and it wasn't too shabby.
There's a group of kids who are already lined up at my local. The line last year when I got there at I think 5am was around the buildin' and easily over 100 people by the time the doors opened at 8am. Goddamn college hipsters buyin' my shit!
I get a break between load in and out on Ryan Adams tomorrow, maybe as early as 1pm. Headin' straight over to the store to see what's left. Fingers crossed!

Peaches SUCKS. It's huge but it's all way overpriced and the used vinyl section is just sad. Euclid is the best store in the city, but Louisiana Music Factory is great for local stuff
And the Dead release is a 5 piece vinyl box, so over $100 makes sense.
Yea didnt realize the dead was 5 pieces. Thought it was just a double LP.
On line now. Been here an hour. Really hoping for white stripes, father john misty, run the jewels, and a few other singles. Decided to skip phish and dead cuz of budget.

My store had hundreds of the Phish box. 40 of the Brand New. No Dylan Basement Tapes
I got pretty much all I wanted. In my mind it was "Okay, Sean.....you're going to skip the Phish and Dead releases because they are expensive and you need to save money." Cut to me at the register and I spent well over $200. The Otis Redding and White Stripes together put me up to around $100.
My list:
- Better Caull Saul theme 7" - Kinks - You Really Got Me 7" - Black Keys/Junior Kimbrough 7" - Ryan Adams - Come Pick Me Up 7" - Todd Snider - Impending Doom 7" - Jeff Beck - Love is Blue 7"
- Father John Misty Heart shaped single - Cold Ware Kids - Five quick cuts 10" - White Stripes 12" - Vampire Weekend - Step 10" (or 12" not sure) - Otis Redding 12" - Run The Jewels - WU Tang Clan - Protect ya Neck - Immortal Technique 12" - Lullaby Grateful Dead 12"
Was not planning on some of the 7" singles and definitely didn't plan on Immortal Technique or Cold War Kids but once I'm in the store and I can grab it my hands can't control themselves.
My store was also really cool about announcing that they pissed off a handful of folks that they discovered were "flippers" at their store. Basically they somehow figured out about 35 people who would always buy like $500-1,000 worth of stuff but ONLY shop on RSD and then turn around and put them up on Ebay. The owner said this year they had to shop somewhere else and took away their "VIP" membership (which lets you in an horu early on RSD). Really cool. This place has taken many steps towards making RSD for the fans. They gave out tickets to the Brand New album to people on line so they could shop for other stuff and know for sure that they had the brand new LP waiting for them at the register.
Called my local store yesterday, and they didn't think they got in any of the William Onyeabor They weren't sure, but didn't recognize the name at all. Still going to head in tonight around closing and hope for the best. I see one or two have popped up on eBay already, but they're wanting $50+ for a $15 single. Fuck that.
Edit: And itrainmonkeys, that's awesome they identified the flippers and banned them!

Definitely check Bull Moose after today for some leftover stuff. Also, my store will have stuff up online tomorrow as well (but I'm not sure they have anything you're looking for): ltcds.com/
Grateful Dead - Nassau Ryan Adams - Comp Pick Me Up 7" White Stripes - Get Behind Me Satan Jurassic 5 - Quality Control Wood Box
Most excited about the J5 box, this is a really nice set, and they only had one copy.
They only had a single copy of the Phish box and some guy was there at 3am to get it. Bummer but I don't feel so bad because there is no way I would've gotten there at 3am. If anyone has any extras of the Phish box let me know.
All in all I'm happy though. Mobile Records did a great job of laying out all the releases and staggering how they let people in so there wouldn't be a stampede.
Good to see longinus there who will no doubt be along at some point to share what he got.

Definitely check my store's website tomorrow: ltcds.com
Like I said above they claimed to have hundreds" of them so it's possible they don't all sell out today. At least 200 copies I believe.

That's pretty sweet man thanks, I will definitely be checking that out.
I'm sure I'm not the first person to question the logic behind RSD distribution. I wonder how one store gets hundreds while another store gets one? Not complaining, just curious.

Yea, it's definitely an interesting thing. I know that my store got so many copies of Brand New because they are close with the band and some of their management or something like that. How they got so many copies of Phish I don't know. My store is a pretty big one for Long Island and I konw they've gotten a lot of stuff in stock over the years so maybe they have seniority or some junk.
got the last White Stripes they had! goddammit fucking everyone was after this! the only Swans! Gov't Mule Dead Of Montreal St. Paul (they had a huge fucking stack of these)
After checking out with those, I went back inside to get Sgt Blotter a copy of Of Montreal because he is at Wanee and they were cockblocking people left and right on getting more than one copy of anything (I just went to other register in a separate trip...haha). So I ended up grabbing the last Mastodon and Temples live album because I have no self control.

Looked for it but didn't see it at my store or I would have gotten it for ya.
