No idea, just heard someone talking about it, and I had to walk away because I was stopped dead in my tracks and literally almost cried. Left me shook up for a bit. Later confirmed when I looked on their Myspace.

i thought Volta killed it...definitely one of my top 5 shows from last weekend. I was kinda bummed about leaving wilco early, but as soon as TMV started playing, i knew it was the right decision.

phish and springsteen were both incredible to me! especially phish friday nite, one of the best shows ive ever seen at bonnaroo! Honestly the only that disapointed me was moe. Honestly neither show really impressed me thinking back on it. I did like them saturday nite but i dont know if it was the fact i was exhausted or them just not really doing it for me but i went to the tent and fell asleep early on saturday nite.

they played on shakedown during Bruce I believe or a lil before and then again at some other point
Amazing: Phish, Bruce, Amadou & Mariam, Vieux Farke Toure, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Wilco, NIN Good to great: Animal Collective, NIN, Jimmy Buffet, King Sunny Ade, Tobacco, MGMT, Passion Pit, Kraak & Smack Glad to have seen: Oakenfold, Grizzly Bear, Beastie Boys, of Montreal, Snoop Dogg
I can't see how anyone could call themselves hip-hop fans and not enjoyed People Under the Stairs' show.
I loved this show and I thought the crowd was totally into it. They may have settled down a bit for the California-themed songs but all in all I think the crowd was as into this show as any from hip hop latenight in 08. These guys are great live and I thought the crowd was more into it then their own backyard show at Coachella in April.
MGMT weren't good last year either. I think people just had lower expectations and didn't know them very well then.
They were still pretty popular when they played last year... they had a HUGE crowd for their show, plus, Time To Pretend was getting massive air play, both on radio and MTV.
From what I hear, though, their show was just better, last year... didn't see them this year, was at the best show of the whole year.

I was literally bored during The Low Anthem. If it hadn't been pouring outside I would have sought out another act. They somewhat redeemed themselves with a fantastic upright bass hoedown about halfway through, but then it settled back into the same slow, monotonous tedious drudgery.

Zzzzzz.
I had a blast. But I was a fan of their albums before seeing them at Roo. They were pretty mellow but that's how most of their tunes are. I suppose it would be kinda boring if you never heard them before.
To call it monotonous is a poor choice of words IMO though. The music varies greatly. But that's just my opinion.

I heard some of their stuff before Bonnaroo. Not a *huge* sampling, but a bit. I'll change my wording to tedious. That may better describe how I felt. But to each their own! I'm glad you had fun!

I listened to them quite a bit before Roo. Maybe it was the rain. Maybe it was my frame of mind at the moment. It wasn't bad, just wasn't what I was expecting. It made me want to go to bed. Which is what I did
I don't blame anyone for not being into that set.It was not the best time slot for them to play. The Low Anthem>AA Bondy ... Would have been epic.
That woulda been epic. I think the problem was that they were so late. They are a more mellow band and the late night shows need to have a ton of energy to keep the people awake. I had a great time but I was looking forward to them a lot.
Plus I think a lot of people were drained from Portugal. The Man before them......which was very very awesome.

I think that prob had alot to do with it. Low Anthem should have kicked off That Tent on Thursday IMO. Then Alberta Cross and so on. That def would have helped.
Not to be a Pollyanna but I enjoyed pretty much everything I caught this year, even moe.
I mean I was slightly disappointed with Low Anthem and that's seriously the only disappointment I can come up with this year. I was blown away by most everything I saw.

^^ This. The weekend was amazing. I had to dig deep to bitch about anything.
Snoop was not good at all. It was my 4th time seeing Snoop and I thought he totally sucked the life out of the crowd after the AMAZING Erykah Badu set.
Animal Collective werent bad, I just dont think they translated well in the day time.
And I thought the Beasties were an absolute blast. If you think of the Beatie Boys as only a rap group then you arent familiar with much more than Ill Communication and Hello Nasty more than likely. Its not the BBoys fault that you arent familiar with the material. I thought the back and forth between instruments and mc'ing was awesome. Long time fan, first time seeing them and it was everything I expected and more. Root Down was my favorite.

I really liked the Low Anthem's set. It was just rather frustrating because no one around me was into it. It seemed like people just wanted to party and were in no mind frame to listen to quiet music. Definitely should've played earlier on Thursday or opened up a tent on one of the other days.
On another note, I'm watching the Animal Collective set from the 2008 Pitchfork Festival and it's absolutely awesome. It's too bad it in no way resembles their Bonnaroo set despite sharing the majority of the setlist. Seriously, they should've been late-night. Not only does the music translate well to that setting (lights, psychedelia, etc.), but I think everyone would've been more into it, including the band.

It was my first time seeing AC and actually I loved it, but this lends some credence to what a lot of people here have said. From a pitchfork interview with Avey Tare....
Pitchfork: In the past year or so, you've playing on bigger stages than you've ever been on before. How's it been?
DP: In terms of the festivals and I guess the larger club shows, it can feel really great and amazing, and it can feel not so good. With a lot of the festivals, it's taken a while to get used to the fast-pace operation. You come in, and you don't really get a soundcheck. You just set up, and we have a pretty big setup in terms of the visual stuff that we like to do. It often feels, when we do festivals, like we're not really in our element, especially if we have to play in the middle of the day. Bonnaroo didn't really feel good for us at all. It was scorching hot, and we were really tired, and it was the end of our tour.
I'm gonna say snoop was the biggest disappointment for me. I've seen him at a smaller show and he was much more fun. Other than that I really enjoyed just about everything I saw. My biggest gripe is that I should have seen more music.
