Saturday- Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Prince, Radiohead
Sunday- The Dead, Phish, DMB,
Co Headliners (Byrne Which Spot)- Black Crowes, Kings Of Leon, Flaming Lips, Muse, White Stripes, Incubus.
I think you're right on the money with this. Those are all very likely contenders to play Roo next year (Incubus does seem a bit like the wildcard here, but even so, I still wouldn't be surprised at all if they get booked). Plus, it sticks with the same formula of hard rock / classic or alternative rock / jam band that we've seen over the last few years.
Radiohead is due back for a return visit - by June next year, it will have been four years since they were at Bonnaroo, and since their 2006 show was so well received, that I think Superfly will more likely than not try to bring them back. Plus they've recently put out a couple new songs ("Harry Patch" and "These Are My Twisted Words"), and I'm sure we can expect more in the coming months.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think AC/Superfly look for bands that have new albums out. At least, I think they do for the undercards. My friend, InsideJoke, asked Langhorne Slim if he was playing Bonnaroo again this year. He said that they didn't get invited back because they didn't have a new album out. He said it was somewhat of a prerequisite. It obviously doesn't apply to headliners, but they've at least got to be making some news.
I've seen RHCP a couple of times. Chad, John, and Flea are geniuses live. Anthony is amazing on record, but can't reproduce it live.
DMB always bring it. Especially recently, they've been amazing.
I don't think Phish will play two years in a row.
The Dead may do it because they're all whores for money and it'd be a huge audience.
Personally, I think it's way too early to even speculate who may play in 2010.
Prince would get me there on his own, but does he play festivals.
I've seen Jay-Z a few years back and wasn't impressed, however his Unplugged is one of my favorite albums of all time.
I would prefer that people leave on Sunday so that the final show is more intimate. 80k in a field kinda sucks in my opinion. I sat in the back for Snoop and was bored outta my mind.

which would you prefer?
Oh, man. Any of those would be great, but if Bonnaroo booked AC/DC, Radiohead, and Phish, that'd be the most mindfucking weekend ever. I don't ever particularly care for AC/DC, but how could you not love hearing "Thunderstruck" on Friday night?

I really don't think there's even an argument about Jay-Z being headliner material. He's at the top of his genre, he sells millions of records, he tours arenas in the US, he's a sure fire Friday night headliner.

The AC/DC show at Giants Stadium a few weeks ago was one of the BEST pure rock and roll shows I have EVER been too and I would LOVE for them to headline the What Stage... but AC/DC has been touring since August 2008 and will still be on the road until March 2010 when they close out the Black Ice tour in Australia... while full of energy, these guys are NOT young (well, i guess Angus and Malcolm are ) and they have already treked through the United States twice on this tour, and their stage setup is HUGE (not to mention AWESOME! ) ... IMO, after almost 20 months on the road there is just no way they are going to transport themselves and their massive setup all the way back here 3 months later for a single show next June.
I'd absolutely love to see some Cannons going off on the farm one day, but if it was going to happen I really think it would have been last June... though I wouldn't mind being wrong

I was sincerely hoping for Radiohead, but after two new gigs I really doubt it is happening. They have played no previously unreleased material. They haven't even soundchecked anything new. And Europe will continue to get Radiohead dates after NA was spoiled last tour.
And out of the three you listed Airline. I think Bonnaroo would prefer to have Jay Z, Macca, and the Dead. Those headliners are completely different and appeal to all of the Bonnaroo attendees the best imo. Plus I think the Beasties and Snoop "proved" last year that Bonnaroo wants to step it up the quality of hip hop acts.
I think that if RHCP and Jay-Z were to both play on Friday, the Chili Peppers would headline with Jay-Z getting a late night, instead of the other way around. Anyway, aren't the Red Hot Chili Peppers on hiatus at the moment? Though I suppose it's possible their break will be over by the time June rolls around.
The Dead might be the most likely headliner for Sunday, especially since this year was the first Bonnaroo without a member of the Dead performing. They'll probably want to make up for that, especially since Rothbury got the Dead this year. I think a return visit from Phish isn't out of the question either, but I really don't picture Dave Matthews Band being the sole jam band headliner - alongside another jam headliner, sure, but I think it'd be pretty weak if DMB is the closest thing to a jam band headliner they get. They'll probably stay away from Widespread for at least another year. And Allman Brothers Band and String Cheese Incident are too small to hold down a headlining spot, IMO. Besides the bands I've listed, I'm really not sure if there are any other jam bands that are big enough to headline a festival of Bonnaroo's size.

There are just too many good bands in other genres that haven't played Bonnaroo to bring back a repeat jam headliner in my opinion. The only ones that Jack mentioned who I would stay and see would be the Dead or the Allmans, I'd be one sad panda if Dave or Widespread closed it out, I think they're pretty played out by now.

RHCP is supposed to get back into the studio in October. But ask yourself this, who's bigger right now: Jay-Z or RHCP? I go with Jay-Z. Of course with rappers not really performing more than two hours, it will be a short headlining spot. RHCP can then follow suit a la Phish did this year between 11-1. I think they may get KISS only b/c they are headlining Voodoo and can easily take NIN's spot last year. I prefer The Dead over DMB so it can go either way. Remember, Sunday night is now about clearing the non-fans, I think DMB will do a good job of that more than The Dead will.

Really? Did you see their Rothbury set? Unbelievable.

No, I didn't - I haven't been to Rothbury yet (hopefully that will change soon). I don't doubt that their set was great - I've heard they're an amazing live band - but I still don't think they're quite big enough to headline Bonnaroo. Plus, Rothbury had about 35,000 people this year, right? Bonnaroo had more than twice that amount. The last time SCI played at Bonnaroo (in 2007), they were 9th on the lineup. I just don't think their popularity has grown all that much over the last two years that they'd get bumped up from Which Stage late night to headliner.

If SCI pulled what they did at Roth at Roo they would totally work as a headliner or headliner. Just about anyone there could appreciate what they did.

I went to the SCI show in 07 and would go if they were brought back next year, but they are just not big enough to headline. They haven't done enough to jump up from where they were in 07 to a probably better lineup in 10.
I see a lot of Radiohead guesses here, but I have to admit that I really don't think they will ever come back. They've vowed to only play shows in areas with mass transit systems since then, but does anyone know if they've actually kept that promise?
While I was there in '06, and saw first hand how much they thoroughly enjoyed playing that show (and I thoroughly enjoyed it myself), they were horrified afterward when they realized how long people actually waited in their running cars just to get in the gates and the impact of that on the environment (among other things). They basically called Bonnaroo's "green friendly" stance hypocritical, but not outright.
I was just wondering if anyone had any new information regarding this that they could share. Has the band wavered at all in their decision to only play areas with mass transit?
