I've met Jesus. Cool dude. Kind of obsessed with the whole walking on water thing. It's like dude it was cool the first 10 times you did it but now it's just getting old. Although it is really cool to have someone around that can make water into wine. I talked to him the other day he's going to Bonnaroo this year as usual. ;D
"Disobedience, in the eyes of anyone who has read history, is man's original virtue. It is through disobedience and rebellion that progress has been made." Oscar Wilde (1854 - 1900), The Soul of Man Under Socialism
"You're either on the bus or off the bus." Ken Kesey
"When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro." Hunter S. Thompson
Yeah, I think I spotted him last year in the tent-only drinking some Naty-Ice with Mary Mag.
Well he said he was Jesus anyway. Only god knows!
I got the joke that started this thread and I chuckled. I always get a good giggle walking by the church @ Roo. Honestly, if that's what they believe then let them be. They aren't gonna change; I'm not gonna change; you arn't gonna change. We only have a little bit left til 2012, so enjoy it man! Expand your mind!

Any Christian at the festival enjoying the music is fine with me. It's the nutcases with the signs telling me I'm going to hell that I've got problems with.

just one little thing. if an aitheist dies and is wrong, they loose everything it's a really bad bet IMO.
If a christian is right, they hit the everlasting jack pot.
of course, for one to find God, they would have to go on a spiritual journey to find him, something of which, most atheists have never done in their life time, so they can never know until then.

I think, sometimes, the spiritual world channels thru the music, so the spiritual (what some folks see as religious), mixed with the music can bring about a supernatural element to the music. It's mind blowing and I have had first hand encounters with the relm of the spirit thru the music.....many of us have, some realize it and others don't, but it;s there

what do you know about MY spiritual journey? I am still on it.
How very arrogant and self-righteous you are to assume you can understand a concept like GOD or what he/she/it wants.

wow.....you've taken offense with this big time......there's no arrogance or self righteousness here.....the only light I have comes form God, not myself....I am but a blind man without the living God and his Spirit guiding me. There's no judging here. I am merely basing things off of what God has shown me thru the SPirit and thru his word......... same thing Bob Marley came to understand before his death as well....... Jerry Garcia very much beleived in God as well........
I was merely saying, if christians are right about their bible, and what it says, then atheists are in deep trouble.......without attaching alot of other stuff to what I said, that I haven't said. Self righteousness and arrogance is a spirit..... something of which you have to be in person to discern. And maybe, it's just not your time yet, to take that spiritual journey to find God...... God has to draw you or else, most likely we would never take that journey, so it is not the christian or atheist who is more enlightneded, but God who has mercy and reveals himself............but seeking does initiate God to come and manifest himself

Quite simple...
If God expects you to believe that the bible is the devinely inspired word of god and the only way to avoid hell is to accept some dude, who's very existance can be called into question, as your "lord and personal savior", yet this god still REFUSES to show any sign that he actually exists and is not a made up control mechanism fabricated by the last remnants of the Roman Empire, then this god is explicitly evil and worthy of opposition.
If the atheist goes to hell when god hasn't shown his face, then god is wrong.
Your "spiritual journey" tripe is garbage, as many atheists are far more informed as to the tenets and ideas of many religions than those who claim to be followers. Have you read the bible? I have... cover to cover... not the "word" of a kind and generous god. More like a petty dictator. We tolerated far less from Saddam.

I hope the atheists here can have a calm democratic conversation with a christian and not turn this into an accusation thread....... I don't think anyone here would want that

to me, ther eis quite a lack of understanding here. I could get into a debate over issues, but I won't.......becasue some folks here are very angry, so it is good tfor me to just chill..... I wish all the atheists well and hope they find their way to the most high.........

Ummmm.... Weatherbill, so my Irish Catholic Grandmother married my Russian Jew Grandfather, are you saying one of them went to hell? Because I always took it that two people who loved each other enough to spend there lives together no matter what anyone said about there religious differences, and two people who treated everyone.. I mean everyone with nothing but respect and love probably would do allright when their souls left there bodies.
This is the problem I find with organized religion, how can any one be "right". There are a lot of fine people throughout history who were not Christian, and plenty who were. There are also a lot of sick sons o biatches in both categories.
Come next Wednesday, I am a music fan, nothing more, nothing less. I hope to see most of you there.

You accused us of "not taking a spiritual journey". I was simply pushing back, though at perhaps a different angle. The bottom line is that many people don't believe in god. It is the 3rd largest classification of belief set in the world. You simply can not tell me that all of these people haven't gone on a spiritual journey.
More than anything though... you can not pretend or claim to know anything of the mind of god, the wants of god, or the existence of god. You know no more than I. No more than the Pope. No more than the highest muslim cleric. You may not speak from authority.

By the way weatherbill... are you coming to the 'roo, or are you just fishin' for souls? If you are actually going to be there, we should totally get a beer together.
Ya know - here is something I never have understood - as a Christian - I am supposed to go out and profess my faith to the world and try to convert people so that they can be "saved" - in my mind - it just does not seem very Christian like to push my religion on people who don't want to hear it or who are very content in the path they have chosen for their lives. Christan or not - what matters in the world is how we treat our fellow humans and our Earth. Fact is - if we treat people badly and tear the Earth apart with pollution and such - what are we really going to get in the end - no matter what religion you may be or may not be - first and foremost we are humans and should treat each other with respect - which includes respecting the fact that we are all different and we all have different beliefs.
