With the "Crispies" (xtians) and Pagans wanting to get together, are there any atheists or agnostics who would like to hold a sermon (meeting) praising the powers that might or might not be? I don't.. I want to listen to music.. and keep any and all religion out of my mind for 4 days.. Then I'll go back to living with some imaginary friend breathing down my neck..

I think, sometimes, the spiritual world channels thru the music, so the spiritual (what some folks see as religious), mixed with the music can bring about a supernatural element to the music. It's mind blowing and I have had first hand encounters with the relm of the spirit thru the music.....many of us have, some realize it and others don't, but it;s there
hey, don't generalize about a group. I am sure the christians that are coming to this festival are probably really cool. I was raised christian but stopped going to church because of how non-accepting and clichy it was there. I am searching for the religion that has no name and is just about love of everyone and all good religions and people. ha, it's hard to explain....especially in a paragraph. Anyway, I think you guys, the pagans, and the christians should meet up and you'll be surprised just how much you guys are alike.
I was really going for sarcasm, not really a "statement" of any kind.. I guess I was trying to go for some humor, but that didn't work.. Trust me, I find my spiritual side through music (especially during my magical journey into the other world) but I guess I riled people up.. Sorry to offend! (by the way, I was raised Southern Baptist, I'm not ignorant to the words of the Bible)

Any Christian at the festival enjoying the music is fine with me. It's the nutcases with the signs telling me I'm going to hell that I've got problems with.

same thoughts here
but I'm more inclined into buddhism than any other that whole scientology thread is juts a joke so please dont take me seriously or smite me
some of those people are ignoring the bible anyway and are headed there themselves. Nothing pisses me off more than ignoring your own religion...or what you say you practice. hypocrites. I'll give you some karma madam15...no worries I kinda knew what you meant. Unacceptance is why there is war in the world.
Edit:^^^cool spacefunk, I always thought buddhism was a good guide book for life. I need to study more on different religions and come up with one everyone can share and not know they are sharing because if people know then they get bored/scared/extreme any other emotion that comes in time.
I am a proud atheist an I agree with you lets keep the religion out of Bonnaroo, I'm not says it's bad my family is catholic and I have friends that are bible thumpers that go too roo every year, but we will get enough of that from the New Brushy Branch Church, Karma too you.
Atheism - the absence of belief in any god or religion.. Atheism - the theory or belief that god doesn't exist..
Thanks for the karma Sasq., but when I consider myself an atheist, i mean it.. I'm not keeping anyone's religion away from my religion, b/c I have no religion! I'm atheist!!!!!!!!!

Atheism is FUN!
My religion, Life is short...be nice...and have fun.
Is that so wrong?
No! It's not wrong at all!
IF YOU WANT TO BE SWIMMING IN THE FIREY LAKE OF HELL, THAT IS!!!
REPENT YOUR SINS (and give 10 percent of all of your money to the church) AND YOU WILL BE SAVED!!! YOU ARE A WORTHLESS HEATHEN AND IT IS ONLY THROUGH THE "love" OF JESUS THAT YOU ARE DEEMED ACCEPTABLE BY THE FATHER!!!!
I'm sorry... I've got nothing. We'll all be dancing together, the atheists, the budhists, the christians, and the muslims (if allah will that they enjoy quality tunage). Not the scientologists though... they're not welcome (and they can't dance).

I just gotta chime in...
While I'm more spiritual than religious, I try to keep an open mind and not push my beliefs on other people. Simply put, I believe in love. Bonnaroo is about music, fun, dancing, meeting new people, having great experiences, right? I'm just guessing, since this will be my first 'roo.
But I have to assume that people who love music so much are very passionate ... religion and music tend to go hand in hand sometimes. Unfortunately, lots of different things separate us: religion is just one of them.
Let the music bring us all together. THAT'S something I'm looking forward to... getting to meet great new people and remember how much we are all alike, no matter how we classify ourselves. We're all just good people looking to have a good time.

not trying to argue at all....but if you say your atheist, doesn't that mean your religion trys to keep religion out of life anyway?
depends. if you mean "keep religion out of gov't and education" then, sure - i would agree. but i bet there are religious folks who would want the same.
Personally, I would have to echo madam's words. I have no god or religion... except for music.

"Disobedience, in the eyes of anyone who has read history, is man's original virtue. It is through disobedience and rebellion that progress has been made." Oscar Wilde (1854 - 1900), The Soul of Man Under Socialism
"You're either on the bus or off the bus." Ken Kesey
"When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro." Hunter S. Thompson
I think Atheists should counter the crazy Christians holding the "You're going to hell" signs in camp area with "You're going to rot in the ground after you die" signs. Either prospect is rather disconcerting to me personally, beliefs aside...
