Every year I make a mix CD to give to friends at Christmas. I usually do a "Song Of The Year" mix and this year I have just been too busy to keep up with popular music to do so. Thats why I'm turning to you folks. Whats your song of the year? Or 2 or 3?
-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver
Wow. These are such good choices. Thanks folks. I may have the lead off track. Lucero ~ Smoke Forget the video. Just turn it up.
omg, my friend megan (and occasional poster here - bunnyra) would love you right now.
we saw lucero a few months ago... for me - good for a few songs, but that voice drives me insane over a 2 hour period. plus, as you might imagine, the audience was mostly hammered.
I always look forward to seeing Lucero. I understand what you say. There really isnt a grey area for them. You either love them or hate them. And whats sad is you've already seen them. There goes that argument. I've fallen into that "I Love Them" camp, for years. They are one of the few bands that makes me feel ok to be where I'm at in life. One Part punk rock. One Part country. 2 parts drunk.
The Richmond shows are the best for me. It's all about community and very few bands bring that out in this city. IDK why but they do. Perhaps its the city loves them and they in return love this city. I'd say come here. Bring Megan along and I'll buy you guys a drink. We will kick the monitor over and you dont have to hear him sing. Kick back and watch me sing along.
I cant think of anyother band that has worked so hard to get where they are. Nor can think of anyother band that deserves it. Garageland hearts Lucero.
