Well I just hope the rain holds off like it did last year. The forecast looked dim and gloomy for the entire weekend, and when all was said and done we barely got rained on!
Not much change today. Actually, this whole exercise is more than a little stupid. Partly cloudy, hot and humid with a chance of thunderstorms is the summer mantra of every southern weatherman. And the post about last year was right on; lots of dire predictions, but only a smidgen of actual rain (although as it came during MMW late night, I got plenty wet!).
Truth is, cloud cover without rain is the BEST thing that could happen for us all...less sunburn, sun poisoning an sunstroke that way.
Here's the report:

manchester's geographical location route's most storms away... unless it's a blanket of showers moving across the state. i think we'll be in good shape. yesterday, there was a thunderstorm warning for coffee county, but i watched the clouds roll right past manchester. if we get a small shower, may it be brief and refreshing.
But on the flip side of that, about three to four years ago, a tornado blew through and did some major damage -- may have even killed some fine folk -- off of Route 53, just over two miles from the site. (Extremely rare occurance, h/e)

What if a tornado were to hit the grounds while we were there? Hypathetically of course.
with all the vehicles and other debris that would be flying about, that is a tough question. best thing to do is find a low spot (ie. ditch) or an open field, lay face down, and put your arms over your head/neck.
I have lived thru a hurricane, which was fun, but not a twister. Would running into the woods be a good idea? My thought is that the big trees might help diffuse the wind impact and protect you from large flying objects like cars, stage pieces, and Warren Haynes

some welcome news, Teine. Thanks for the inspiration.
I was actually thinking about that the other day. What would happen if a twister came ripping through a field that held 100,000 people?? I'd eat the fattest caps i could find, strip naked, and run towards that mother as fast as i could, screaming BOOOONNNNNAAAARRRRRRROOOOOOOOOO at the top of my lungs. Couldn't think of better way to go than that....
Tornadoes shouldnt be a problem, and if there were any I'm sure there would be lots of warnings. But we will be at bonnaroo, so the weather doesnt really matter. Its Bonnaroo, it will be great no matter what the weather is.

running into the woods would not be a good idea. trees can uproot or splinter and turn into projectiles. like kitty said, i don't think we'll have anything to worry about.
Hey, no problemo. And it's twice a day, at least....at this rate I'll be posting updates every fifteen minutes by the time I leave on Wednesday morning....
...and speaking of same, here's the latest and greatest. It's now looking more like one of those Glimmer Twins forecasts:

Mine's from weather.com aka The Weather Channel. I've got this thing for Jeanetta Jones that involves her coming with me to bonnaroo, then performing delicate microsurgery to reverse my vasectomy while buck nekkid and slathered in Hawaiian Tropic Dark Tanning Oil (her, not me...tho I guess I wouldn't be wearin' a parka or nothin'), then begging me to father her next child. But that's just me.
I'll prolly stick with weather.com tho', and just let y'all correct me. More fun that way. Plus I like to keep my expectations in check..
Yeah, I guess i'd rather be surprised than disappointed. Still, I like the fact that Hoot's got the *worst* forecast and we're still not breaking 50% chance of rain most of the time.
