Excited about this Peavy trade. Didn't have to give up Xander Bogaerts, JBJ, or Middlebrooks (who I still have faith in) and still got a decent starting pitcher. This is much better than if we'd traded Bogaerts for Cliff Lee.

Doesn't look like the O's are going to be bringing in another starting pitcher. We need Hammel or Feldman to find some consistency, but I don't know how likely that is.
It's a weird trade. Normally when you are buying at the deadline you don't give up one of your starters for a situational reliever and prospects. We will see how it works out I guess. Kevin Towers is the bullpen wizard
If someone is stupid enough to pay half price for a Mets ticket they deserve to be tarred & feathered.
You can get tickets for like $3 on Ebay.
Except, you can't.
How bored are you today?
If you pay half price for a Mets ticket, you're a f*cking idiot. I don't know why that's something you'd argue with. I have bought tickets for friends every time I've gone this year and have yet to pay over $13 per ticket.
I'm assuming you sat in the upper level, since those are the only seats selling all year for that price on stubhub. The shiz tickets sell for $20-$30 face value. BUT the field level seats or ceasar's box seats still go for around face value on stubhub ~$60. Soooooo, like I said, Groupon is selling tickets for half off. I'm considering grabbing some field level action for $30. D!ck. How bored are you today?
Yes, we buy upper level tickets. Then we sit wherever we want because about 30 people show up to most home games. Don't go this Friday, OAR is playing after the game and the place will be packed with idiots.
I'm telling you not to spend your money like an idiot, Jimmy, take the hint.
Does anyone go to those games? Why not just get nosebleeds and find better seats? (Forgive me, imarob.)
Earlier this year I watched Matt Harvey beat Stephen Strasburg in a great Friday night pitcher's duel....from the 4th row of the stadium, 2 seats off the visitor's dugout on the home plate side (a.k.a. the best seats you can have, pretty much). I paid $11 for upper deck seats to make it happen.
And for the record, I sit in those seats every Friday night game and the same 30+ seats are always empty. Those rich old f*cks just sit on tickets rather than mark the prices down.

Duuuuuude....... I'm actually a big fan of how my local minor league team does things; Instead of reserved ticketing it's one price first come first serve for seats. Excluding VIP room rentals, of course.

Can you tell us more about this game?
Why certainly, glennron, I'm glad you asked.
You see, this was early in the season and people still thought Stephen Strasburg, starting pitcher for the Washington Nationals, was a better player than Matt Harvey, starting pitcher for the New York Mets.
When Harvey was nearing the end of the performance where he thoroughly out-played his young counterpart, the crowd of 15,000 strong began chanting, in unison, "Har-vey's bett-er! *clap* *clap* *clapclapclap* Har-vey's bett-er! *clap* *clap* *clapclapclap*.... (and so on)." A great day in Met lore.
Seriously. It's very rare a baseball game is sold out here so why not "spread the love" and give every guy with small kids a chance to get great seats?
Don't get me wrong... I am a VIP guy. I am fortunate enough to have a career that let's me go VIP at festivals, concerts, and sporting events.
And I don't want to sidetrack to athlete salaries (IE: we should pay teachers, Police and the military more as they are WAY more important) but I'm ok with more people attending games rather than just the boxes selling out and it may also help scalping, etc. I hate when The Yankees come around and 5 minutes after onsale the tickets are on a secondary market for more is all.
To me: Sports are supposed to be about a family attending and having fun.

CAN WE STOP TALKING ABOUT THIS PARTICULAR F*CKING GAME?

Was the double-response necessary?
I know you're playing with sea cows in paradise, but a little leg work goes a long way.
Tonight and Sunday. But I presume you were only talking about the upcoming three so you can gloat after a Nats' loss, eh? 'S ok - it's $1 hot dog night and it's boys' night out and it's like 75 degrees outside.

You presume correctly, good sir. I mostly wanted to extend my virtual hand for a virtual handshake and say have fun (and slightly cover my ass should -- though it's an unlikely and unthinkable event -- the 'Nats win). Huge, huge series.
