A friend and I are going to the Red Sox game on the 13th. At this rate, I expect the Sox to win only 3-4 games between now and then.
God, this is looking ugly right now. 10 games in a row
Yeeeep, I made the decision to skip going to any games in Tampa this weekend with the thinking of them not looking good and extra roo spending cash and boy I'm glad I diid.

This is what happens when your team is too cheap to dish out large contracts.
If your trying to say this has anything to do with not resigning Ellsbury you're out of your mind. Aside from that this is essentially the same team that won the World Series with out any "large contracts". I remember the last time they handed out a bunch of large contracts, that went well......

I'm not saying that at all. We could have resigned Saltalamacchia (sp?) and not have AJ. We should have kept Drew from the start and make improvements to our bullpen. We have the salary to sign great players, but we choose to brag about how frugal and safe we are. John Henry mocks the Yankees for "wasting" money but look who is at least above .500. The two teams in the AL East who are afraid to sign long term/big money contracts are on the very bottom. I'm not too worried about it now, until they decide to try and offer Lester shit money during free agency. If Lester goes, I'm gonna question management big time.
Really though, the Red Sox (and Rays) are definitely still in the division race. It's only May and we all no the Blue Jays have no chance of doing shit.
Well, it's odd. Last year was supposed to be the year in which the Red Sox were supposed to suck. And then they turn around and win the World Series. They also had shitloads of luck, which so far is not happening. The bullpen is also pretty lackluster, and Middlebrooks turned to shit in a hurry - hence needing to go back and get Drew.
I have Jean Segura. I was offered Brian McCann and AJ Burnett for him. lol
I have Miguel Montero and Alexei Ramirez, so it's not like I'm hurting. But still, when you're getting two for ones in fantasy - it's not going to be that great.
I'm not sure if this is a joke or not, but he's literally last in MLB among qualified pitchers in ground ball rate.
Yeah, that is really strange since he is known as a sinker ball pitcher. If you look at his percentage of Infield Fly Balls, he leads the MLB. He also has one of the lowest line drive % in the MLB. Maybe guys are hitting less ground balls but still not really hitting it that far/ making great contact.

Has anyone watched the Battered Bastards of Baseball on Netflix yet? I thought this was a great little documentary and would recco this to any true baseball fan
Rotation = Buchholz, Workman, De La Rosa, Webster, and Ranaudo (sp.).
The last two were called up from Pawtucket, either today or fairly recently. I wouldn't be shocked to see Henry Owens before the end of the year, considering how lights out he is in Portland. But that's if he's decent at Pawtucket.

Wild times last night at AT&T Park watching Madison Bumgarner come awfully damn close to perfection. He gave up one hit in the 8th, struck out 13, and walked 0. The Giants have been struggling mightily, especially at home. But MadBum bringing the heat and 2 Buster Posey homers made for an awfully exciting night.
Here comes the latest Cub can't miss prospect--Jorge Soler joins the outfield tonight. Soler, Baez, Reed, Castro, Bryant, Alcantera, Rizzo and the slugging IU former catcher converting to LF (can't think of his name right now). Cubbies will win it all in 2016 and many more after that. Ain't nobody over 25 years old in that group! Plenty of room on the bandwagon--get your tickets now!
Edit: Fuck! Where's the pitching?
The pitching pool this off season look good, so I am thinking that will be their focus will be.
What I love about baseball - the grind, 6 months of watching the ebb and flow of your team, 162 games where one at bat could change the game, a series, or a season. Watching names that noone knew before the season started become all star candidates and the city rallying around them. That being said, its tough being a Pirates fan. A 20 year streak of not making the post season and we do it back-to-back (with the 6th lowest salary cap in MLB)only to get slaughtered at home.
Bumgarner was lights out last night so I cant even be mad. However, when you know your GM is too tight with the wallet to go get an Ace for next year, spend some cash on one more big bat or pony up the cash to keep Russell Martin as you're watching Hurdle run through a bullpen rotation as if he was playing a series instead of a sudden death game, it makes me want to pull my hair out. Yes winning a few more games down the stretch wouldve guaranteed us a series instead of this stupid sudden death play in game (again), but I cant go on too many more first dates with the Pirates unless they start putting out.
Also on a sidenote - all of the Giants look like a troop of hobos they acquired off the street. That has to be the most unkept greasy team in the MLB.
