I knew you wuold say that flanz and if i wasnt a diehard id say your right. Mets have been known to start and finish strong though lose the race in the middle somewhere. I can see the same happening this year just that the end of the season boom happens to boot Philly out of the playoff race. Reality of the situation...
There are two playoff teams coming from the NL East, and the Phils/Mets aren't either of them. A miracle could happen of course, but it's just unlikely that either team is able to have sustained success.
Halladay is going on the shelf at some point, his body seems to have had enough of the grind and is just not getting healthy. Utley has had four injury-riddled seasons and is now 34, so I don't think I'd rely on him lasting the season.
This isn't to excuse some of the laughable roster situations on the Mets, like their entire outfield making about $2m combined, so we can laugh at my team, too.
All I'm hoping to see out of this year is Niese, Harvey and eventually Wheeler pitching effectively, Travis d'Arnaud taking over the catcher position and Ike Davis getting back on track. Other than that...I'm really not expecting a damn thing.
And Quacker, I know...I just thought I would get at least a week or two before the meltdown.
Yea were both rebuilding this year. Let the battle for 3rd commence. At least were not the Marlins. And i dont think I can offend anyone here because is there Marlins fans? Even if people hoped on the bandwagon last year the tax bill and team implosion is enough to deter anyone. Goodluck filling the multi-million dollar stadium. That goes for you to Yankees.
On an aside...I cant stand our announcer Tom MaCarthey. Chris "Wheels" Wheeler has the crazy old guy stories along with Gary "Sarge" Matthews having the resume to back up his opinions. But Tom is just plain boring and makes stupid recollections and pisses me off. Anyone else hate their local announcers?
Why would you say F*ck John Lackey? So far in the season, he's done everything right. He's way more in shape, his stuff looks pretty decent. His injury seems minor. He definitely has his hang-ups but I'd bet money on him being the best 5th man in the AL this year, barring major shoulder problems.

Because it took him four plus innings to get injured... again.
Suppose he comes back a few weeks from now, for how long? The guy's the new JD Drew - I get that feeling anyway.
I'd be lying if I said I haven't already cracked my fair share of weenieey jokes already. Getting hit hard, blowin it so early, etc.... Juvenile, sure.
