For the first time in what seems forever I'm excited about my Cubbies! I've been patient since they hired Theo and he's done a tremendous job turning around this organization. They now have one of the top farm systems in baseball and are loaded with talent. Then they hire an outstanding manager. I loved Lou but he was well past his hay days and Dusty made a few bad errors in the playoffs but Madden is fucking awesome. He has a great personality to go with his baseball genius. This should be a fun year for Cubs fans. I don't think any true Cubs fans think this is the year but we can sense that it's close. I'd be happy with 85 wins this year so anything above that would impress me.
Is it me, or are people less interested in baseball as time progresses?
I think it's all relative to what your team is doing. The last few years I wasn't paying close attention because my Cubbies were rebuilding. For me, if my team isn't competing then im nowhere near as interested. I'll still follow, just not as close.
Now that I think my Cubbies will finish above .500 for the first time in years, I'll be focused.
Being a Red Sox fan, it was tough last season. I watched in April, then they started sucking big time. I started watching again by the end of August, just to see what was coming up from the minors.

Stopped watching the game after the 8th inning and checked the score online every 5 minutes afterward. My initial reaction when I saw that Gordon hit the game-tying HR:
I guess Miller and Betances just weren't fast enough.
The Yanks need three closers to cover up CC Sabathia being lousy nowadays.
It still might not be enough because the whole rotation is suspect. But it will be interesting to see if rehab gets him back to a decent middle of the rotation guy.
Seems weird to have baseball, when it's 30 degrees outside and there's snow on the ground. More like hockey season.
But looks like the Bruins are on the outside looking in. I'm glad the Red Sox are back. I think they have a wild card shot this year, since the East has tons of questions.
