June 11, 1990 Nolan Ryan, Texas Rangers May 1, 1991 Nolan Ryan, Texas Rangers
The stat that I was actually talking about is the last pitcher to throw the last no-hitter of the previous season and the first no hitter of the current season.
Ryan threw the final no-hitter of 1974 and the first of 1975, which hadn't been done since until Bailey's game last night. Capnbreakdown only said consecutive seasons, so it was just coincidence that Ryan could have been the answer for that one (depending on how you view Halladay's playoff no-no). So...we're both right?
The numbers really don't put Bailey in the 10 top of NL pitching this year. That being said, throwing two no hitters by age 27 is one hell of a feat.
I'm still more surprised about the Buccos having the best record in the majors. I expect the rain of "the NL is weaker" posts to start flowing......now.
Well Pittsburgh played well in the first half of the year, then hit a brick wall sometime around/after the ASB. To see them tops in the majors with that amount of talent on their roster is not a surprise.

Kevin Brown, I remember him. When he pitched for the Yankees, he looked exactly like Christopher Lloyd (Doc from Back to the Future). Me and my dad called him Tabellations after Lloyd's character in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (one of our favorite movies).

Heading to the Giants-Mets game shortly. Perhaps seeing me in the stands will inspire them to get a fucking hit. I'll be like Glenn Close in The Natural.
Yes. What a long and frustrating game. RISPs are the Giant offense's Kryptonite. They see a RISP and they become weak and woozy. 1 for 15 with runners in scoring position. Timmy pitched his heart out - 11 Ks in 7 innings. The bullpen delivered 12 more Ks and allowed no earned runs. Has any team ever gotten 19 Ks and lost?

If a team has done it, I assume the Mets were probably involved in that one, too. The Mets went 0-for-17 or something like that in an extra-innings game earlier this year, so I feel your pain on that front.
And Matt Harvey is starting the ASG! Meaningless accolade, but since this is pretty much the highlight of my baseball season I'm going to let myself be happy about it.
My response: Bartolo Colon smacking Cano's kid while hugging Cespedes.
In all seriousness, Cano is my franchise player on my keeper fantasy team, if he gets hurt I'll probably be more upset than you are this year (I'm in first place and he's been mashingggggg lately).
Did anyone watch any of the futures game yesterday? The league is really hitting a boom in young talent, it seems like. The kids can play.
I didn't see any of the futures game, but I was just thinking, while watching the All Star Game last night, how with guys like Trout, Machado, Harper, etc. the future of the league is in good hands.
I might be a Red Sox fan, but it was nice to see the tribute to Mariano Rivera during the ASG. One of the best Yankees in my lifetime, and one of the few who Sox fans like myself can't really rip on too much. (Bernie, Posada, and Jeter are in the same category.)
Speaking of Bernie Williams... it's days like today (hot as f*ck) where listening to his music fits very well.
