With this newfangled internet, we can trade live music readily, and I think this is the place where we divulge some of our favorites we've acquired. Links are preferred.
I'll start:
Steve Kimock Band - 2001-03-04 & 03-05 - Powerhouse Brewery - Sebastopol, CA
These are both in .shn which is kind of a pain, but I swear they're totally worth it. The fidelity of these recordings is beyond amazing. The taper used two on-stage mics and every single note or brush of the snare is captured so perfectly your mind will literally not be able to comprehend what it's processing and you'll probably pass out for a few minutes. Be cool, when you wake up, Kimock will still be rocking.
Charlie Hunter - 2002-07-05 - Knitting Factory - New York, NY
Just pure fire. The whole show is improvised, two big sets of exploration to the purest degree. The funk is out of control and everything is just seamless. Don't even think twice about it.
String Cheese Incident - 2001-03-08, 09 & 10 - Warfield - San Francisco, CA
Awesome three night run from '01. The thing that I really love about these shows is nights one and three have a different guest ripping up a few songs. Night one has Steve Kimock sitting in on Footprints, Round The Wheel, Lonesome Fiddle Blues, Joyful Sound, Lovelight, and Love Please Come Home. Night three has Bob Weir sitting in on Estimated Prophet, Midnight Hour, and Dark Hollow. $$$$
Railroad Earth - 2007-05-19 - St. Mark's Episcopal Church - Yonkers, NY
This is a really special Railroad Earth show in that it was actually a surprise engagement party for, I guess friends of the band, where the groom hand picked the setlist. They play tons of rarities and awesome covers, and the show just has this really beautiful soft feel to it. Another bitch to download, however, as it is in .flac. WORTH IT.
Anyway, don't think this really has a point, but maybe someone will feel compelled to download some of these. If anything this is an attempt to get Which Stage bumpin. Let's do it people! Let's talk some muuuuuuzack
