Chris Cornell's work since the last decade has me scared about the "new" Soungarden. His solo records were yuck and Audioslave was just all sorts of disappointing. So, yeah, I'm skeptical.
They're certainly not the best band in the world, not gonna say that. But they aren't *that* awful either. I thought their last album was 5 maybe 6 out of 10 - so I'm hoping for something similar out of this one.
I got a ton of new stuff yesterday in preparation for a lot of car travel I'll be doing and to replenish my iPod since it just crashed and I lost everything on it.
I got:
Sufjan Stevens- The Age of Adz. This is one of the best albums I've heard in a very long while.
Massive Attack- Collected. I'm going to be seeing them at Moogfest and am not very familiar with their work so I'm starting there.
Marc Maron- All three of his comedy albums. He's the host of a popular podcast called WTF? where he interviews comedians and I really want to hear his material/find more comedy albums in general to get.
Deadmau5- For Lack of a Better Name. I caught the end of his show after Gwar at Roo and though I wasn't in love with the music his visual presentation was phenomenal.
La Roux- La Roux
Major Lazer- Guns Don't Kill People...Lazers Do
John Mellencamp- No Better Than This
School of Seven Bells- Alpinisms. I'll be seeing them at Moogfest also.
Jonsi- Go. Another Moogfest person I'll be seeing.
Dom- Sun Bronzed Greek Gods
Mountain Man- Made The Harbor. Another Moogfest band I hope to see.
Peelander-Z-- P Pop High School. I'll be seeing them in Fargo tonight, they're a Japanese punk band who dress up in goofy colorful monster costumes, should be fun.
Why would you buy an album that you only think is going to be a 5 or 6 out of 10, I'm genuinely curious.
From their last album, there's five songs on my iPod. And then there's a few which I just skip over when I listen to the CD. So it's a 6 overall. Compare that to an album which is just mediocre across the board, nothing really standing out good or bad - which is a 5.
Bruce Springsteen - The Promise (not the deluxe edition, just the 2 CD version) Brian Eno - Small Craft on a Milk Sea Warren Haynes - Live at Bonnaroo '03 MMW - Radiolarians II
There's not a thing worth remembering When tomorrow can bring someone new Get used to the thought You can't be what you're not Life has already got plans for you
Let's see: Kanye West, My Chemical Romance (don't kill me for that one, but I like the new album), Street Sweeper Social Club, Foals - Total Life Forever, Nicki Minaj...
RandyAnal I'm so excited someone else knows who Peelander-Z is. My friend dated one of the members for awhile, hahaha.
Picked up some goodies just before the New Year: Happy Body, Slow Brain - Dreams Of Water Typhoon Ferri - Any Time Now Angie Mattson - Skeleton Arm, and Given To Sudden Panic and Noisy Retreat
Now once I start makin' some money at my new job I've got a ton of new stuff to buy!
Picked up a bunch of new stuff yesterday. Only listening to the first of these now.
John Legend and The Roots - Wake Up The Decemberists - The King Is Dead Social Distortion - Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes North Mississippi Allstars - Keys to the Kingdom Bruce Springsteen - Darkness on the Edge of Town
