With Ozzy releasing his final tour dates for his solo tour and answering questions about a Sabbath reunion in the next year or so, any chance we could get a Sabbath reunion this year as our "dinosaur act"? Honestly, I'd love to see Tony Iommi ripping a solo to War Pigs at Roo.

probably not this year. i've read interviews, and although it looks like the Sabbath reunion is all but set, Ozzy said he has a lot of stuff he needs to take care of first before he can focus on it. 2-3 years is what he said, i think. So maybe for Bonnaroo 2012 and beyond!
I'd go see them on their own, regardless of how good or bad it may be. The first 6 Sabbath albums are untouchable, and to see the guys who made them would be a near religious experience for me.

I will preface this post by saying I absolutely LOVE Black Sabbath. BUT with that being said, I have seen them 4 times, and the only time they were what I would consider "good" was back in 1999 on the reunion tour... Tony and Geezer still kill it, because they have kept playing over the years, Bill not so much. Ozzy's voice is shot and he is a parody of himself. They have to down tune everything even more now because Ozzy can't sing high anymore. I can definitely understand the want to see them, I mean it's fucking Black Sabbath, but I can't help but think a lot of us missed the boat on seeing AWESOME Sabbath shows.
And even though no band can top the first 6 Sabbath albums in my opinion... When it comes to Roo... Maiden>>>>Sabbath

there's room for both! Maiden is supposed to be going on some massive "greatest hits" world tour to support their back catalog in the future. the timelines fit so that Maiden could play 2012 and Sabbath in 2013

I already saw this way back in 97 during Ozzfest. That being said, of the two, Ozzy sounded way better than Sabbath that night (and I was very surprised!)

Interestingly enough regarding Maiden and Sabbath I was at the Ozzfest where Sharon had people egg Iron Maiden and cutting the sound in and out on them for trash talking Ozzy the whole tour on stage. As well having seen Sabbath 3 times I wouldn't mind doing it all over again.
Bruce just told the truth, they outplayed Sabbath every night on that tour.
Ozzy canceled a bunch of shows on that tour, including the one I was at that year, keep in mind this is OZZfest we are talking about here. Kinda silly to call it that when the guy it's named after can't even maintain long enough to at the VERY least go out on stage for every date.
So Maiden would play an extra 45 minutes at those shows to make up for Sabbath canceling, and Bruce would make reference to that during their set. He would just say that they would never cancel the day of a show, and then not even come out on stage to at least tell the crowd personally. He didn't say it in the nicest way possible, but it was his opinion. I don't think he did anything wrong there....
Suffice to say, that was my last Ozzfest, and I have no intention of watching anything involving Ozzy EVER again.

I was at one of the shows that Sabbath sat out on that Ozzfest(Indy at old Deer Creek). Bruce definitely made fun of ozzy quite a bit. Specifically, for the the Osbournes show on MTV and having to use a teleprompter to remember the lyrics. He also kept calling it Maidenfest. I have never seen any form of Ozzy (only Sabbath with Dio) so I can't criticze his show, but I can't imagine it touching an Iron Maiden show. They are unreal live and they just seem to get better every time i see them. There is a reason they won the Brit Award for best live band last year. I'm personally hoping for Maiden to make it to the farm next year with their Greatest Hits tour coming up. I would see them being in the NIN spot from 2009 or a longshot Friday Headliner.
I saw Sabbath at the 05' Ozzfest. It was after Maiden had pulled from the tour and Velvet Revolver took their spot. Sabbath was pretty good, the band is awesome, but it was not something I would really care to see again.
I've only seen Maiden once and it was at one of the Ozzfests in question. On that tour they only played songs from their first four albums (which are fantastic) but I'd love to see some of Powerslave or Seventh Son, or even Dance of Death.
