I mentioned that I had info about a big band in the other thread and no one cares. How can no one care about Portishead Saturday Night?
for one thing, bad timing. We just got the headliners from a reputable source, thats enough to chew on. For another thing, it seems unlikely. Massive attack and Portishead? thats like the 2 biggest trip hop names. Seems unlikely we get both. For 3... whats the story? how/where did you hear this?

because we already have Massive Attack playing, so we know that we arent getting Portishead as well. If your gonna make something up, make it more believable.
And, ok, I understand the arguments of no BIG headliners, but I'm really surprised by any negativity of this line-up on here. All year I've been listening to everyone BEG for MMJ and AF. Now we get them and people are still complaining.
Agreed.
Also, as far as WSP goes I think that this year is an exception. The band is part of the festival's DNA. They belong in year ten.
(Not that I have any desire to see them, it's just that I can understand and accept why they were booked.)

And, ok, one more thought before I move on from this thread.... They're still in negotiations with the sat night headliner. What if it falls through? Could be weeks before we have the full line-up. Thank god for this taste we got from insider. Hopefully it will hold us over.

My apologies if this has been brought up since insider's info. Could the Saturday headliner be Bob Seger? I know he was brought up earlier in the week, and there was a discussion about whether or not he was headliner material. I didn't think he was, but if insider is saying to plan on lower-type names for the headliners this year, maybe he would be it? He does fit the "classic rock" headliner position, though I know that isn't necessarily a headliner type every year. Another possibility who would fit this description could be David Gilmour.
My source was right on another headliner so I think Portishead is legit. Who cares if they and Massive Attack are both Trip-Hop. It's a lucky coincidence. Is anyone going to complain about both of them? My guess is that Massive Attack ends up in a tent. Portishead/MMJ/Primus late-nights.

insider is back online. insider, what can be said about this? would i be correct in that the 2 remaining acts are in those groups? or am i completely off?
Bonnaroo has had at least one headliner every year that had international success before the 90s, so I think we can agree that there will be one "classic" name on Saturday and rule out bands like The Killers or Muse as the Saturday headliner.
Also, insider's posts that a.) she hadnt seen us speculate the band at all and b.) To start thinking less "big name" headliners probably rules out the likes of U2, Macca, the Who and the Stones. Although I think the Stones are probably the only possibility of the 4 with their alleged tour and the "still in talks" thing that insider mentioned. This probably also rules out Neil solo too
So can we collectively agree that the 2 remaining slots likely fall into these 2 groups?
Saturday HL CSNY/Buffalo Springfield The Eagles R.E.M. Paul Simon The Rolling Stones (not likely)
Saturday Hip Hop Act Eminem and/or Dr. Dre Kanye(+JayZ?) Drake OutKast (not likely)

This is the 10th anniversary, and a lot of us can play the "it's about the under card," but what stands out first when you look over any previous line-up is the headliners. I doubt 'roo wants this year to go down as the year of a subpar top line.

not coincidence. These lineup are carefully scheduled. If they have one big trip hop draw they dont need another. And theyd both get which slots. MAssive is arguably bigger than portishead. They're not using the fri and sat late night stage slots on trip hop. It seems improbable. But if you wan't to at least attempt to convince me otherwise give me the history. Give the story with details (whichever details you can)

so have we ruled out the possibility that one of the 2 big spots left to fill could be a john legend-the roots pre-headlining spot, with Neil( i hope, or some other big name) as headliner
