I saw Cold War Kids in Birmingham the other night. Spoke with them after the show. Asked if they were playing Bonnaroo this year and they confirmed they were.
I don't really get why everyone loves this band. I don't really dislike them nor am I super familiar with them but what I know doesn't impress me much.

Awesome if true. The list of bands just keeps getting better. If the rumors are true and Felice Brothers, Delta Spirit, Portugal. The Man, Cold War Kids, and Mumfor and Sons are all going then I'm going to be so f'n pumped. That's amazing. All of those acts were amazing acts at Roo that deserve to come back.
They were very good Friday night. Lots of energy. If they are at Bonnaroo this year, I'll go see them again. Glad you got to speak with them after the show.

awesome. pretty much expected them there with the new album (had em in the pick ems pool, +1!) but still great news to hear that, ill be there for sure. for anyone whos unfamiliar, definitely start with their first album Robbers & Cowards. second album was kinda meh but R&C was tremendous, start to finish. highlights being "passing the hat", "we used to vacation", "saint john" and "rubidoux"
This is one of those bands Im not dying to see on the lineup but would probably see them barring no conflicts
That's how I feel. I will see them, but only if there is nothing else going on. Never been a huge fan, new album is very good though. Heard they are also pretty good live.

They are good live. Here are a couple of videos from the last concert I saw of theirs.
Good. Within the past two weeks i've had two tickets to see them, one at the Bijou in Knoxville and one at Third Man Records. Because of my damn car engine I couldn't go to either show. I hope there's no big conflict if they are in fact at Roo, because I'm dying to see them.

Just saw them in Memphis and Third Man Records. Talked with the drummer for a bit. He said they were doing coachella and bonnaroo. The new songs kick ass by the way.

That sounds like a confirmation. Two different posters talking to the band at two different times. That's pretty awesome. One more reason for me to go to Roo this year.
I heard the new album is pretty Leno. Which is a shame, because I love "Hospital Beds" and "Robbers" from their first album.
From what i gathered from Itunes samples, the new one sounds SUPER generic. But when "louder than ever" comes on xm i groove to it
It is a different sound. Not sure how to describe it but I'm still digging it. I recommend you guys actually listen to the full album itself though, before you go around putting the idea that it's Leno in everyone's head based on something you heard. Give it a chance on your own and read some lyrics....sit down and really give it a listen and decide how you like it. If not.....that's fine. It won't be for everyone (not much music is).
I think it's pretty good. I've liked all the stuff they've put out and have heard people saying "their new stuff sucks" or "isn't as good as the first one" since their first album came out so I'm kinda used to it. I think there's some good tunes on here.

I've listened to it the whole way through once and already liked most of it. That is a good sign for me! I didn't feel the need to skip through any tracks

Yeah, despite reading not so favourable reviews, a girl I work with said she loved it, so I may still give it a listen.
I've read that most of the bad reviews are reviewing it based on their past records. Because this has a different sound (mainstream is the word I keep hearing), it is getting bashed.
I'll judge for myself. Either way, I'm still pumped to see them.
