Alright here goes. to start off ill tell everyone that i have been a lurker on this site for three years now. I have read this board daily without fail. I rarely chime in. My only real shining moment is i started the DMB in 2010 thread last year cause i heard it on the radio around november of last year. As we know that turned out to be true. So that being said.
tonight i got off work went to have a drink downtown (nashville) with a long time friend who i havent hung out with in a long time. After a couple drinks out of nowhere he started freaking out telling me that Daft Punk has been signed and booked for late night saturday. of course i ask how do you know. heres his story.
His close friend is best friends with the son of one of the higher ups in AC. While at a christmas party the son was bragging how his dad landed daft punk for late night bonnaroo. His quote was "Imagine pyramids and spacemen at midnight"
Now inforoo take this for what you will I will be at the roo no matter what this is my 7th one. I am not the biggest fan of daft punk so to me this isnt too huge. but like i said i read this board everyday and i know how some of you feel about this subject. I know this will cause a leno storm and there will be some that dont believe this story. frankly after all the garbage rumors over the years im gonna have to see it to believe it. But as a long time lurker i feel like this board needs this information.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
Yes, indeed, DMB did end up playing at Roo but I honestly believe it was a coincidence and dude was mistaken (Dave played the CMA awards in Nashville last November). Once again, not trying to rain on anyone's parade, but seriously, how many people do we have come on the boards and tell us "A friend of a friend told me that such-and-such will be at Bonnaroo!?!"

At this point, these rumors are all the same to me. Theres no real reason to believe this, but theres also no real reason not to. DP is long overdue at roo, and it might as well be this year. My cynical nature keeps me from getting too excited until the lineup drops though....
I'm not saying, thegoat, that you are lying. Or that you're friend is lying. But who knows if something could have gotten lost in the translation. He could have just as easily said that they were TRYING to get Daft Punk, and it snowballed from there. I hope it's true though. From what I've heard, Daft Punk shows melt your face clean off.

I want to believe you too........but recently I was told from a friend who heard it from someone in the know that Pink Floyd, Talking Heads, and someone else were playing Roo and then people reminded me Roger Waters is touring during Roo so this info turned out to be wrong/misinformed.
So what i'm saying is.......hopefully you're right.....but i'll believe it when I see it.
I don't know if the story is true, but I am one of the believers that daft punk will be at roo. Since I've started going to roo, and listening to peoples opinions on the boards, I can say that hands down, Daft Punk has been the most requested no-show. I don't see a better way of rewarding your long-time fans, if you really pay attention to their opinions as they have claimed that they do in the past, then finally putting Daft Punk there. So when Daft Punks manager made that statement some months back about them having a "really busy summer" I suspected that they were already locked up for Roo.
I also think it would be a HUGE blunder by Roo if they were unable to lock this group up. They obviously don't tour much, so to not catch them on this run would be unwise.

this is the one rumor i really don't want to get too emotionally invested in, for fear of it not materializing and leaving me in utter despair
Daft Punk would be the absolute pinnacle of awesomeness for me.
I make this pledge to my fellow inforooers: if Guy-Manuel and Thomas are on the farm this year, the Pre and Post show parties at my camp will be epic and absolutely everything will flow FREE of monetary cost!!
