Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I think we're all a bit narrow minded here. The same four acts are on the tips of everybody's tongue with maybe four more just below, but for whatever reason agreed to never be there. What if we open it up a bit? I think John Legend and the Roots are likely to be there, and I think that with enough roos under their belt, a daily show that they house band, two recent albums, and a bigger individual star in JL, that they could actually play such a big spot. Plus the large number of people involved and the busy schedules (think of Quest alone and how much Leno he does on a weekly basis) that it would make sense that they are taking the longest amount of time.
R. Kelly? Believe it or not, the guy is still around, still on the radio, and according to Bonnaroo homeboy Aziz Ansari, puts on a great show. I personally think it would be great to see him pee on underage girls onstage. (Had to make that joke, but seriously I feel he's not outside the realm of possibility) Also enough of a diva to make the contract take forever.
Rage Against the Machine has been mentioned, personally I think they would fill that spot great, and I would FINALLY be able to see them. N.E.R.D. put out a new album of basically the same ol shit, but it's just as good I think. They've done some touring to support it, and are not as big name following insider's hints. It could be a BlakRoc set? It would make more sense for the Black Keys to return in a bigger spot if they were doing something a little different (or two sets), and again, difficult to lock down. I think Cee-Lo will be at the farm, but I doubt it's this spot.
Personally I do think Dr. Dre would be the best, and fairly likely. What a way to kick of Up in Smoke 2, plenty of big name guests could be included, even those outside of the direct Aftermath family.
EDIT: Oh and Lauryn. Of course she'll take forever to sign a contract. I was thinking she'd be an afternoon slot for sure, but maybe a bigger show? Unlikely, I realize as I type this, but touring. As much as I would love this to be a fugees reunion, "you will have a better chance of seeing Osama Bin Laden and Bush in Starbucks having a latte, discussing foreign policies, before there will be a Fugees reunion."
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.
If Kid Rock is the top-billed name on the Bonnaroo 2011 lineup, I will buy everyone on this board a GA ticket.
I would assume that if the Saturday headliner is going to be a hip hop act, they will not be the top billed act, regardless of past history.
I'm not even talking in regards to past history. But look at what we know so far. Who's gonna be the top name if its not the Saturday night act? WSP? AF?

AF. Though Eminem or a Dre project would easily would take top billing.
AF has the potential to go huge in the coming years. They're already on the level of KoL as far as selling out arenas, and that Grammy nod is going to propel them. We're talking Tool/Coldplay/Interpol big if not Radiohead/RHCP/Foo Fighters big.

Last year neither Stevie nor Jay were #1, so it's possible for Saturday not to be #1.
Emoney serves more of a purpose than any of you, especially Nate, whose incessant, garbled ramblings are so mindless and pointless that I get depressed just seeing them.
Last year insider said that Jay-Z was a headliner, which wasn't true, but he was there. And insider did say to not get into semantics about "headliners", but merely primetime slots. Insider said there were six.
That could possibly be MMJ and Arcade Fire on Friday, but where they will be is left to be seen. Then the headliner and possibly late night What performer on Saturday. The late-night What performer being the hip-hop "headliner". Insider said that the Black Keys were pre-headliners, but didn't specify that they were one of the prime-time slots. Then we have Robert Plant and Widespread Panic on Sunday.
Insider said that the headliner on Saturday was most likely the hip-hop headliner, but like I mentioned before, insider said Jay-Z was headlining last year. Insider was wrong about that, but was not wrong on him being there.
I think we maybe putting too much credence that the hip-hop "headliner" is THE headliner for Saturday. Insider may know who AC Entertainment and Superfly have talked to and booked, but not necessarily where exactly they will be scheduled. Now I could be completely wrong about this and we do have our first true hip-hop headliner, but recent history says otherwise.

Again I say, I'm not talking in regards to past lineups at all. If whoever the "surprise" Saturday night headliner is isn't #1 on the lineup, that leaves Widespread Panic or Arcade Fire to top the Bonnaroo 2011 bill.

You got this reversed. Last year Insider said Jay-Z was going to be late night. He was a headliner instead - which was 100% true.
Uh, quite the opposite. Insider did say that Jay-Z was headlining along with Stevie Wonder, KOL, and DMB. And Bonnaroo themselves said that Jay-Z was doing a late-night set. Here's the news release from Bonnaroo themselves.
Its a cache link since its been taken down from the Bonnaroo site.

This argument is pretty retarded. Was Jay-Z headliner or late night? buhh buhh buhh. Can't he be both?
Well he wasn't Late Night last year. So I don't see that as a valid argument.
jay-Z to perform late night after Stevie Wonder! by Bonnaroo 3/24/2010 2:23:39 PM
We are excited to announce that Jay-Z will be playing on the What Stage late night on Saturday, June 12th, following Stevie Wonder's headlining performance! We can't wait to share the whole schedule with you, look for more info in the coming months!
Because you have people in here denying that Jay-Z was a headliner last year. They either won't give hip-hop/Jay-Z the respect it deserves or they are grossly misinformed.

Jay-Z is one of the biggest names in all of music. Of course he headlined.
