Because you have people in here denying that Jay-Z was a headliner last year. They either won't give hip-hop/Jay-Z the respect it deserves or they are grossly misinformed.
Jay-Z is one of the biggest names in all of music. Of course he headlined.
Exactly. That's why I'm in WTF mode when I saw someone say he didn't headline. It's hard to take any other statement as credible from someone who says that. That was my main issue and I wanted to get to the bottom of it. That's all.
Late Night and Headliner aren't mutually exclusive...
Jay-Z was a Late Night Headliner. Simple.
Fine, fair. I just don't associate the What Stage with Late Night but I suppose I should. Plus I don't associate acts that start before midnight as Late Night either, also I suppose I should.
But there is no question that he was one of the Headliners last year.

does it really need to be restated that verbatim from the mouths of Bonnaroo Jay-Z's performance was a late night following Stevie Wonders headlining set?
a headliner is THE biggest name playing that day. headliner and late dont have to be mutually exclusive, see Phish in 09. they were a late night and also the biggest name on the bill that day. Jay Z was billed as a late night, under Stevie Wonder who was the headliner for the day. Simple as that. Unless you dont think of a "headliner" as simply being the biggest name playing than i dont see how you can disagree.

I know this is not for HL status, but I really wish Curren$y was not conflicted for roo. He's pretty much the only rapper I'm into right now besides Wu.
Am I the only person on here who would be genuinely excited if Eminem topped the bill? He may not put on the best live show out there, but the man is a living legend who many of us grew up with. I'm sure his set would be entertaining to say the least.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

He's not my top choice for roo simply because of his vibe, but he was my favorite rapper for years when I was growing up. I would really welcome his show and be there for every minute of it.
Also, just because someone disagrees with you doesn't mean they're a troll.
I agree with this statement. However, arguing a ridiculous point with NO substance against someone usually signifies a troll. If it walks like a troll, and talks like a troll, chances are it's a troll.
I think the last few pages of this thread is indicative of this entire forum over the last few weeks. There's so much information that we don't know how to filter that we debate the most mundane points or all feel like experts to a degree without truly knowing.
The quicker the lineup gets here the better. But knowing this forum people will argue what artist is too high or too low on the billing or which artists don't even belong at Roo in the first place.
I'm actually ready to skip over the lineup process and go right to the Fest. LOL

And I'm delusional? My point has a lot of substance. When Bonnaroo calls Stevie Wonder the Sat. Headliner and Jay-Z a late night, I'm inclined to believe that Stevie Wonder is the headliner and Jay - Z is playing a late night. Im not sure what other way there is to translate that. Im not saying Jay Z isnt big enough to have headlined, but according to Bonnaroo, he did not.
onto more pressing issues, i keep seeing wu tang brought up. is there any circumstances under which they could headline? im not seeing it as "wu massacre" featuring Raekwon, Method Man and Ghostface werent even top billed at Camp Bisco last year. Granted it would be bigger if you added the rest of Wu Tang but im not convinced that would be big enough either
i would be excited if they were there though, i wasnt highly anticipating their show and they didnt show up until the next band was scheduled to start but they were one of the best shows all weekend, and notably better than Break Science w/ Talib Kweli

No, Wu Tang could never headline Bonnaroo, partial group or whole group. It would be cool if they were there, but they would not be unopposed, or a headliner in any form. At best they would crack the top 10 on the lineup.

Actually I would argue it's the opposite. There's so little solid information out there to shift through that people just make stupid Leno up. Often these are the kinds of people that repeatedly ignore what others say, infest threads with one point of view (mainly their own), and accuse all others of troll-ish behavior even when they mostly post about the same thing over and over again.

I still don't think that Kanye is out of the question. He's big enough to headline, he had a great year, and the history he's had with the festival would make for great buzz and promotion.

I honestly think, if we all really trust insider's word that the last headliner is a hip-hop artist, that Eminem and/or Dre or Outkast are the only possibilities. Does Rage Against the Machine count as hip-hop/rap?
How the hell does this stuff leak out anyways? Does she work for the people running the website? The graphic artists making the poster...I just don't get it. Seems like it shouldn't be too hard to keep this stuff under wraps.
