Im super excited. Although I didnt like their Roo show in 09, their show at voodoo in 08 was the first big festival concert i ever went to, and they blew me the fuck away. they are an absolutely incredible band, Return to Cookie Mountain easily being in my top 5 favorite albums ever, and i cant wait to hear what comes next. i would love to see them on the farm again though. better than fucking animal collective was
It's a little bland for a TVOTR song, but I'll save my final judgment for how it works in the context of the album. I generally don't like the songs they choose to release as singles for the most part.

There's a nice little gap in there from the 2nd of May and the 22nd of June.
I really hope that they are an add, I really really love them!
If TVOTR get added to Bonnaroo I will shit my pants. They came through Calgary and played an 1800 capacity hall at the University. Un-fuckin-real. Here is a link to a new song.
The new album's leaked. It feels like what would have happened if late 80s pop of George Michael/Prince/INXS got filtered through the mid 90s filter of trip hop in all the good and bad ways that idea entails.

Has anybody watched the film with videos for each song? It was a cool enough experience on it's own, but what I found really interesting was the tracklisting for the film...
Caffeinated Consciousness Second Song New Cannonball Blues No Future Shock Repetition Will Do Keep Your Heart Forgotten Killer Crane You
I ALWAYS had a problem with the song order of the cd version whenever I'd listen to it...way too back loaded, and while I liked "Keep Your Heart" as a song, it was always a drag. That, "You", and "Killer Crane" always seemed out of place in the first half, but they work perfectly towards the end here. "Second Song" as the second song. "Caffeinated Consciousness" making a hell of a lot more sense sonically as an opener. It all works. Remember the bunk track listing for Cookie Mtn? I think that's basically what we're dealing with. Try giving it a listen in this order and see if it makes a difference for you...it obviously did for me.
Man, this album just isn't clicking with me. Their releases have gotten progressively less great (can't bring myself to say worse, as I still love this band and what they try to do) with every one. There are a few tracks here I dig... but it's a pretty large step down from Dear Science, which was a pretty noticeable step down from Cookie Mountain, which was a minor step down from Desperate Youth.
Bishop, I'm surprised that, as a Prince fanatic, you don't like Dear Science more. His influence is all over that album. Dear Science is my favorite TVOTR record, followed by Cookie Mountain and then Desperate Youth.
