This is a silly argument. Skrillex, Girl Talk and Deadmaus are all pretty terrible.
Girl Talk and deadmau5 aren't terrible at all. Your talking about probably THE 2 biggest names in electronic music right now. If you don't like mash-ups thats one thing, but to call girltalk terrible is just pretty dumb. As far as mash-up artists go, girl talk is at the top (there really is no argument about this, name one other mashup dj that plays as many shows and has as much hype as him). There was a lot of hate for All Day that i just couldn't understand. Show me one other mashup album that is better that isn't by girltalk.
Well said. When it comes to people who hate on Girl Talk (clearly over 50% would've loved him if they'd heard Night Ripper in 2006, guaranteed), people confuse hating the player with hating the game. I don't generally like that phrase, but it does apply, as stated above.
To say Deadmau5 is bad is just silly. To quote a German friend who studied abroad at Lee University in Cleveland, TN with a close friend of mine, [in a harsh German voice] "Duuude, Deadmau5 is most progressive trance DJ of all time!"
I just think if he came out with night ripper (which was good, definitely got me excited about him) then All Day, then Feed The Animals people would have gone insane.
All Day still has a lot if really awesome parts, to me pretty much the entire album is really fun to listen to. But Feed The Animals just sounds so perfectly put together, the album as a whole just flows so well and the build up to that end piece is just awesome. I kinda seems like Feed the Animals was SO big (arguably the biggest electronic album ever. Tell me that wasn't played at every single party you went to that summer) and got listened to so much that people kinda just tired of the mash-up genre.
The whole "don't hate the player, hate the game" is really how i feel about deadmau5. The whole electro-house thing doesn't really do it for me, i feel like most artists that fall under that category kinda all sound the same. But deadmau5 is just so much better and its really hard to deny what he's done. So progressive for a genre that really isn't that progressive.

Girl Talk is pretty big... But half the reason it got played so much at parties is because it's such an easy party mix
Oh, and is every thread around here off topic right now? We've been talking about Skillrex (and others) for a while now, and has the conversation been worth shit?

Anyone think the first batch of artist adds will be announced this week? I know the line-up drop was about a week later than usual but in years past the 2nd week of March has been about the time we get some additions.
-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver

Not to say that there was much hope for a repeat, and in case it hasn't already been mentioned, it looks like Deadmau5 is out for this year. Will be in Europe on the 11th. Been looking at a lot of tour schedules of Ultra DJs to see if Roo might be snagging one, but it's impossible to say anything as most of the big names have gaps that could theoretically make Roo happen. Armin Van Buuren's a no in case anyone was secretly holding out.

This lineup really needs a boost in the electronica department. Lets get Skrillex and Deadmau5! /sarcasm
and i like girl talk but i dont remember a single party i was at where even one track was played, nevermind all of feed the animals. your parties need different people on the ipod

You scared me for a min lol. I agree electronic boost it needs indeed. Though I never look to Roo to really bring it in the electronic dept just this year is extra week.
I'm trying not to get my hopes up but some of those little yellow dots that seperate artists on the line up are gone.
I'm grasping at straws I know.
I actually like this find. I think that it means something for sure. Someone has been messing with the website. Personally I think they are making room for the lineup additions...
What I specifically like is the fact that the dot between "The Black Keys" and "Buffalo Springfield" is missing. That would mean a lineup addition pretty high up on the lineup. Someone sorta big

Also, it looks like 10 spaces to me....speculation insue.
I noticed this on a few spots when the line up was initially released. I hope that your speculation turns to reality. Who could be billed that high in the line up though? Please dont say RADIOHEAD because its just not happening this year. Im going to say Daft Punk.

Boo yah!
Glad to see you're keeping your expectations grounded.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.
How about Sam Roberts? They did Bonnaroo in 2007 and have a new album coming out soon. The new single has been released up here and I think they said in a week or two in the US. They've got a ton of energy for live shows. I saw them open the main stage at Pemberton Festival in 2008 and it was unreal. Mind you about 30000 people showed up for that set so...
