Yeah, I'm pretty psyched about them too. I've seen them a couple times over the past year and really like all that I've heard. I'm not surprised to see them on the lineup, but am very happy that it's set in stone. I'll definitely be at their set.
Sound is pretty great, soundboard + room matrix. I also recorded the Dawes and Middle Brother (Dawes/Deer Tick/Delta Spirit supergroup) sets, in the same great sound quality:

itrainmonkeys thanks for that roo mix. I have been listening to deer tick almost every time I pop on my ipod. They have now progressed in my top ten artist to see at broo.
I was front row center against the stage for Deervana Saturday night. It was definitely one of the greatest experiences of my life. Such an amazing vibe. After the first couple songs people started to really get into it and it was like being able to attend the 90s grunge show I never saw. I would love to see them play Deervana late night and then have a second, sonic stage, set during the day sometime as Deer Tick.

I think we could see Sleigh Bells, Deer Tick and maybe Dam Funk headline Thursday tents. Although idk days for any bands, so some of those may be confirmed for other days, don't kill me if I'm wrong.
Well dammit. Apparently, Deer Tick played a "secret show" here in Nashville last night. The kicker? I had sushi at the restaurant literally NEXT DOOR to the place they played, at the same time.

Deer Tick have been playing a lot of secret shows or shows backing Jonny Corndawg and I even recently saw them post "We want to play a house party.....anyone down with that?" which is pretty awesome.
I just saw that they added a Deervana show at Brooklyn Bowl which I may try to hit up. The weekend after Bonnaroo so it could be tough.
^^Yep, that's who they were with. I'm all sorts of bummed now.
We were sitting on the damn patio of that restaurant, and at one point, a dude walked by in SUPER short (rainbow colored) shorts carrying a 6 pack of Natty Ice. We totally laughed at him, because the Five Points area tends to be hipster-central anyway, but now I realize he was most likely going to that show....

Yea they've turned Mange into an epic 10 minute song that they play towards the end. It's pretty awesome.
For everyone: Here's a pretty recent, awesome quality recording of a live show from nyctaper.com. Completely FREE to download: www.nyctaper.com/?p=3591
I listen to it a lot and made this artwork for my iPod:

wow, good stuff, thats right down the street from me, I have checked out a few shows there. Do you know what day they are playing @ Bonnaroo? Are they a Thursday night band you think?

They are in that weird place where they feel too big for a Thursday night act but too small/first time for a regular weekend slot.
I think they could definitely headline a tent or play at night on Thursday....but wouldn't be too surprised to see them during the weekend somewhere. They got a lot of buzz from SXSW and their recent album.
I'm kinda hoping for Thursday cuz they would tear it up in front of a lot of new fans.
Also, i've heard great things for Maxwells but never been. I'm going on Monday for a Felice Brothers show. Can't wait.

Just listen to all of them. Start from the very first one to get a feel for the lead singer and his vocals and writing style. He's the main guy on that album and pretty much made it himself. The second album adds the full band and has a fuller sound. The third album has a new band member who adds a lot to it and a more experimental sound I guess. The next album will have a lot of songs with a different lead singer.
I'm actually really hoping they somehow squeeze in a Deervana set at Roo... or a Middle Brother set. I'm gonna be as close as possible for DT's set no matter what!
Deervana is a nice novelty. However, I'd rather hear some good old Deer Tick.
True, but they've only done Deervana a few times (2 I think....maybe a few more. and they have one more coming) and John McCauley of Deer Tick just posted a big note about how Deervana and Middle Brother are fun side projects but he's all about Deer Tick as the main thing.

I just checked Deer Tick's tourdates on Partisan Records.com. They list them as playing Bonnaroo June 9th. Looks like it will be a Thursday Tent show. Hopefully playing the 11pm slot.
