As some of you may know......i'm a huge Felice Brothers fan.
They've got a new album coming out in May called Celebration, Florida and the few songs that I know on the album are awesome. This is a departure for the band.......trying some new/different things.
I got to hang at the closed-down school that they turned into their studio for a holiday party with them and the place was awesome. I can't wait to hear the songs they recorded in there.
The Felice Brothers first album for Fat Possum Records will be coming out May 10th and is called Celebration Florida. They will be touring throughout the Spring in anticipation of the new release and will likely add summer dates following the release of the album. Below is the all of the information for the new album including track list and song descriptions:
CELEBRATION, FLORIDA OUT MAY 10th, 2011 ON FAT POSSUM
The Felice Brothers will release their fourth full-length album Celebration, Florida on May 10th, 2011 via Fat Possum.
The Felice Brothers explore a multitude of sounds and instrumentation throughout the expansive Celebration, Florida, recorded in the library and theater of Beacon, NY’s old high school. Produced by Jeremy Backofen, the album is an exhilarating amalgamation of frightening horn sections, unexpected 808s, ambient synth lines, schoolyard taunts, booming, primitive drum beats, heavy bass lines, piano, violin, accordion, ringing guitars, rave beats, and sinister acid jazz that captivates and mystifies. The inspired and imaginative, passionate and rollicking Celebration, Florida maintains the steadfast authenticity for which the band has become known and loved, while it expands upon the dark, woozy undercurrent of ramshackle barroom blues, vaudevillian atmospherics, and surreal storytelling of their previous albums.
Celebration, Florida casts interweaving scenes of dreamy characters and stories, including: a young girl who crimps her hair and spies her dead father driving down the road (the cinematic, roaring “Fire at the Pageant”); shady degenerates who get lost in a mystery surrounding a car (the clamorous groove and carnival horns of “Honda Civic”); a Wall Street scandal hits a little too close to home (the climactic, thunderous synth/sample/drum machine-laden “Ponzi”); and a late night host recounting his rise to fame for his honeybee while traveling in a private jet (the elegantly melancholic, rickety gait of “Dallas”).
Celebration, Florida track listing:
Fire at the Pageant Container Ship Honda Civic Oliver Stone Ponzi Back in the Dancehalls Dallas Cus’s Catskill Gym Refrain Best I Ever Had River Jordan
Next month, The Felice Brothers will embark on their previously announced six-week spring headlining tour of the US, Australia, and New Zealand. The band has added two dates to the tour: a second show at Maxwell’s in Hoboken, NJ, on March 28th to follow the sold out show on March 27th, and a show at the Lobero Theatre in Santa Barbara, CA, on April 27th as part of the Sings Like Hell concert series. The Felice Brothers are also set to perform at this year’s SXSW festival in Austin, TX, at Auditorium Shores on March 19th alongside Bright Eyes, Middle Brother, Man Man, and Kurt Vile, and will make their debut at the sold out Coachella festival in Indio, CA, on April 16th. Tickets to the US shows are currently on sale; for more information, please visit www.thefelicebrothers.com. More US tour dates will be announced soon.
The Felice Brothers are: Ian Felice, James Felice, Christmas, Greg Farley, and David Turbeville. The band’s third album, Yonder Is The Clock, was released in April 2009.

That is sick, I feel like this album is made for me. Celebration, Florida is right down the road from my pad. May 10th is my birthday. These guys are my favorite band right now. Everything about the description of the album makes me think that it is right up my alley. I can't wait to see these guys at Coachella and any other time they are even remotely close to me. Great review by the way.
::Edited for this this plea::

Here are just MY videos of River Jordan. Easily my favorite of their new tunes that I know. It can be a sprawling epic 8 minute jam with alternating tempos. It's great stuff.
This first one has the song "Stepdad" before River Jordan. It's sung by Christmas the bass player and is a great rock tune but doesn't look like it'll be on the new album. I think it may be a b-side or something.
The rest are just different times i've seen them play it and recorded. It's great. i'll post more (of this song and some others) this weekend.
The Felice Brothers playing a song named "Honda Civic" has me very excited for some reason. Never heard the song but its got to be a murder ballad right?

Honda Civic is an amazing song that changes up tempo a bit. I have an audio recording of it. Here's a video with okay (but not great) audio. The song has Christmas singing one part and then Ian singing the other. It's really fun and I can't wait to see it played a lot live
Coco for the new album and CoCo to the Felice Brothers. I don't think I can ever stop raving about their show in '08. They tore it up that Thursday and was a hell of a way to start the weekend at my first 'Roo. The accordion was great, the washboard guy was awesome, and the lead singer sounds like Dylan. Helluva show.
Apparently no murder in Honda Civic. Also when did Christmas start singing? I don't even remember him doing backup at roo
Christmas had a song here and there in the past but since Simone left the band to do his own thing they've stepped up the amount of christmas songs. Farley (washboard/violin) has a song as well that's pretty awesome.
Christmas sings songs called Stepdad, Buried in Ice, Ahab, Back at the Dancehalls and has the best verse on Marie - a song where each member (except drums) gets a part
I have listen to this straight on through 3 times now and i still cant describe it or say how i feel about it. Very complex, very different. I think its growing on me.

Here's a link to a recording I made of them at Coachella. The audio quality was a bit off, I did my best to level out some of the base which was overwhelming, hopefully those of you that were there don't think I over did it.
I want to have connections like that! I would settle for them not going straight from New Mexico to California and stopping in Tucson for once on their next tour.

Spin gave it an 8 out of 10. Great review.
'Celebration, Florida' Americana siblings hitch a ride on mythical caravan
SPIN RATING 8 of 10
Plenty of bands try to re-create Bob Dylan's mid-'60s apex, but Celebration, Florida sounds like it's conjuring Dylan's mid-'70s Rolling Thunder Revue period. These 11 songs play out like a series of character sketches drawn behind the scenes at a decrepit carnival, set to after-hours folk blues as raw and unhinged as the subject matter. Ian Felice's voice ranges from carny-barker, wise-guy cackle to anguished moan, especially on the closing dirge "River Jordan," which pines for paradise before concluding, "Fuck my whole career / You don't want me here." He sounds ready to jump.
