I've heard from various artists that they get screwed pretty hard on their royalty percentages through Spotify. If you are a bigger artist you probably will do ok from it, but otherwise it's been a laughable amount of profit.
I pay for the premium service. And I listen to A LOT of music I have never heard before. And if I like it, I BUY it.

I may be the only one though.
I dont use spotify, but I have the same mentality. I may stream something or check it out, but if I'm into a new artist I buy their work. I've had to scale back some of this because it was growing into one of my largest variable expenses.

Agreed, I try my best to operate this way.

well she said wayne had fallen through at one point. so he has to be signed pretty late in the game.
I've clarified this in other threads but here's the explanation:
She was told "Wayne is out" which meant "Wayne is out as the rap headliner/biggest act" and that Eminem was in. She was misinformed about Lil Wayne being dropped and the wording threw her off. I asked her via PM and she explained that it wasn't a last minute thing.
