I think Daft Punk is a possibility for next year (Obviously people say this every year, but from the sounds of it they'll have a tour going by this time next year).
I think Foo Fighters are reasonably likely as a headliner. A "Watch the Throne" set from Jay-Z & Kanye is really the only other headline-caliber rap act they can book and also is the only way to get Kanye back on the farm.

Okay....(someone help me out if this isn't right) since Muse and Phish are at Outside Lands, would it be wrong to look at them as prime targets for the headliners?
Foo Fighters - Muse - Phish - Bob Dylan
and they put Dylan on the Which before Foo similarly to Buffalo/Eminem
Radiohead - Coldplay - Furthur - Beyonce - Death Cab for Cutie - Dispatch - Justice - Iggy Pop & The Stooges
Those will be our Top 8. It will look something like the following:
Friday: Death Cab for Cutie -> Coldplay (Justice late night) Saturday: Iggy Pop & the Stooges -> Radiohead (Beyonce late night) Sunday: Dispatch -> Furthur

Just hope there's not another Hip-hop headliner next year
After this year I'm not even going to speculate or get my hopes up about the headliners in 2012. Learned that lesson the hard way.
I actually like the hip-hop headliner. There are a lot of people who do like that music. I say this now, but if it turns into a Pop-Hop headliner I'll share your sentiment.
And wow, you're like a walking, talking infomercial to turn people away from Pearl Jam and Ohio State, aren't you? Before you started posting here I quite liked Pearl Jam and was indifferent towards OSU, now I find myself wishing that Eddie Vedder falls down a mine shaft or that Columbus is infested with locusts

Which Late Nights: Trey Anastasio Band The Chemical Brothers
Which Closers: Dispatch Death Cab for Cutie Drake
My random Bonnaroo 2012 thoughts and rambles:
If Daft Punk is true, then remove Chemical Brothers and have Daft Punk LN What. Friday I think we'll see either the Foo Fighters, Muse or Rage and Saturday we'll see Prince, Waters, or Coldplay. Chili Peppers could play either of those nights, but I think the above is the most likely. Also, I think Wilco/Shins/Death Cab is likely for a Which closer, maybe 2. I think Dispatch will be there, now that they're back together and Bonnaroo is the perfect fit for them (college-aged crowd, jam/indie base) and it'd be a rather rare "get". I put Drake down because I think it's the biggest rap name we're likely to see. After Kanye/Beasties/JayZ/Eminem&Wayne, I think we'll see a step down from a big rap name to just a Which closer. Unless Dre or OutKast play, which is unlikely (although I guess Dre could be possible depending on when Detox finally comes out). As there is always a LN Jam (Friendly) Band, I think Trey is most likely - 2011: SCI, 2010: Flips, 2009: Phish, 2008: Phil, 2007: SCI & Flips. Unless they do away with the jam headliner and put Furthur LN (or get someone else for that spot, but I feel it's too soon for Phish or Dave and Neil/MMJ were there this year, so...).
Expectations well out of hand for next year before this one even kicks off! Love it.
I don't expect Radiohead, Daft Punk, Prince, I expect a regular (and highly enjoyable) Roo for 2012
Fri: Muse, Foo Fighters, or Coldplay Sat: Rolling Stones, Waters doing the Wall (for the last time), or Clapton Sun: Phish or Furthur
Prince is (probably) more likely than the Stones. Prince has played Coachella and is doing the whole Welcome to America Tour currently. Stones haven't done a Big 4 festival yet.
Also, Daft Punk is supposed to be touring next year. Given that this is the first time they're likely to tour, it actually makes them playing more likely than simply wishful thinking. That, and they've played Vegoose, Coachella, and Lollapalooza means that them at Bonnaroo isn't out of the question, and actually likely if they tour (if there is a tour, I'd probably expect them to play some combo of ACL/Coachella/Bonnaroo but next year looks like the year the Daft Punk rumour could be more than wishful thinking because we know that there will probably be a tour).
Second, people keep mentioning bands like the Foo Fighters, and Death Cab, etc., and those bands probably aren't big enough to headline Bonnaroo. Those bands can headline festivals like Sasquatch, Hangout, etc., which draw like 40K or so, but they aren't big enough for headliner status. I could see either one being a pre-headliner, or Which Stage closer, but not an unopposed, headlining spot.
i agree that DCFC would be a pre-hl/which closer, however i think Foo Fighters would hold down a Friday Closer spot. They are one of the bigger rock bands of the past decade or so.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

Foo Fighters could headline, Death Cab could not. I wonder who next year's big hp/hop act will be. I'd love Kanye or Kanye + Jay-Z but there always could be that bad blood. Maybe Outkast will have reformed by then, but Andre seems to be very averse towards live shows. Maybe it will be more like 2009, without a headliner, but a big-name act still near the top.

Kanye will never be back on the farm. I'll put $20 on it right now.
I don't think they'd recycle Jay-z as a headliner just 2 years after his first performance. But then again they recycle WSP all the time and they've never had a croud the same size as Jay-z's last year.

If we're talking hip hop I don't see us getting a headliner, maybe just Drake and Odd Future in the top 12 names. That seems fairly realistic any ways. I just don't see Kanye + Jay-Z happening, and a Jay-Z repeat so soon seems off as well. No Hip Hop Header this year.

Odd Future in the top 12 names? Seriously?
I'm a big fan, but if you walk up to random people on the street, maybe 1 out of 20 would know who OF is. They're not that well-known in the states yet.

I think top 12 is high too, but if they were on the lineup, I think people will be surprised where they land.
