Wilco has preheadlined so many times before, though. I have a feeling that they might get a late night slot. Not saying it's going to happen, but I'm sure it's something that the festival has thought about having them do. They could definitely pull it off, too. Wilco has a pretty nice light show.
But that subheadliner spot is now what Bonnaroo calls a "dual headliner" spot. Bonnaroo oft referred to MMJ as a headliner, or a co-headliner in interviews and posts last year.

This would be my thought as well. Pre-headlining and competing with things on 4 other stages is different than pre-headlining unopposed or mostly unopposed I.e. Black Keys or MMJ.

I did not see a single post or interview where Bonnaroo referred to MMJ as a headliner last year just for the record I must have missed it.

I think you could call the postion they played as a headline spot. I'm not big into MMJ. I certainly saw some other acts I liked much better but everyone has the opinion and preference.
I know Paul Simon is big, but I just don't see him getting an unopposed headlining set on the What Stage at Bonnaroo.
???? Dooood....
Paul Simon could fill that slot for sure!!! I think it would be a highlight of the weekend for a lot of people.
It would for me, that would be prime nap time!!! I saw the Dylan Simon tour a few years back. I was so glad Dylan opened, I made it about an hour into the Paul Simon show..was not impressed.

I guess you could call Primus a headliner as well then, but the fact remains that Bonnaroo did not.

Did anyone see the Ed O'Brien quotes from a couple days ago where he mentions that they'll be focusing on indoor venues and that playing stuff from King of Limbs in "Outdoor Festival Settings just doesn't feel right"? I mean, Roo is one of the few outdoor festivals that could maybe be an exception but.... Think this hurts their chances?

I think the list if bands that could possibly close out the festival on sunday night is what they have to start with when they begin the process of booking these shows. So what kind of acts would fit that role? What do you guys think?
Allman Brothers Band The Raconteurs (are they big enough to fill this slot?) Fleetwood Mac Phish, making their triumphant return MMJ, the best live band out there in my opinion Furthur Dave Matthews or Widespread again Eric Clapton? Neil Young? McCartney?
The band that takes the sunday night main stage slot is always going to fall into this general category. If there isn't a well-known jam band type act out there, you can bet they'll turn to classic rock because it is the most agreeable festival music out there. I put the Raconteurs out there because Jack White himself has a giant following. I would put my money on either Furthur or the Allmans, but what do I know... what do you guys think
