Patti Smith Friday night at the Fillmore. This will be the 3rd time I've seen her in the past 4 years or so. There's something transcendent about her. 68 years old and still rocking out and not trying to be anyone other than herself. I love everything about her. Her music, her writing ("Just Kids" was fantastic), her confidence, everything. You hear an album like Horses now and you may say, "I've heard others who sound like that." But when it came out 40 years ago it was groundbreaking. This woman is a national treasure.

Seeing Rush on a Tuesday? What a great way to cure that post Bonnaroo depression!
Dave Maynar since you just liked my post and I saw you were playing A Place to Bury Strangers. They are also playing New Mountain link. Have you ever seen them live? Are they good? Do they really do shows in the dark? Cause that sounds like a lot of fun.
I'm probably going to that show. I saw them open for The Big Pink in 2010 at the Granada in Dallas. If I remember correctly they played with the lights off and fog machines, it was really loud.
That sounds great. Pretty excited for this one. Anyone else I should check out at New Mountain?
I don't really see anything else I'm into on their schedule. Only time I've been there was to see Le1f at Moogfest last year. I might see Papadosio there at the end of February, but that's because some friends from out of state are going. I usually see shows in Asheville at the Orange Peel, The Grey Eagle, or The Mothlight.

Cool I keep up with a lot of the music venues in Asheville but inevitably end up missing things because I don't know who they are. So I thought I would take the opportunity to ask.
Fuck. Rush is still on my list of bands to see. But I will be in Austin that weekend. So now it's Primus on the 2nd and Rush on the 22nd.
Keeping with the getting f'd over theme, Zoogma and Earphunk added a NOLA show for 2/11 for the Who the Phunk is Zoogma tour. It's kickoff night. And it conflicts with Lotus. I've been wanting to see Zoogma again for a while, but I'm not missing Lotus. Damn.

So you're going to Austin twice and getting cockblocked on epic shows both times? jeez I can help you on seeing Zoogma soon: www.mobileaerofest.com/page/lineup

I've only seen Zappa Plays Zappa once (Rothbury '08), but I thoroughly enjoyed the show. And he's coming to SA, so even better, I don't have to drive to Austin!
I'm planning on catching the Las Vegas show. I've seen them twice (2008 at the Variety in Atlanta and a couple years ago at the Knitting Factory in Reno). Both were excellent shows, but I hated the Knitting Factory, so I'm excited to see them in a venue I like again.

Yeah. Early May is a close buddy's wedding. 22-24 Tenth annual Memorial Day blowout party weekend we do every year (or at least the last ten). That fest has a couple acts I'd see. I guess that will depend on how broke I am coming out of Buku weekend before. I love seeing that band though. They play hard, and they often play off rap which I find to be fun as shit. Zoogma is definitely a good up and coming band out of the south.

Here's the full poster for the Inter Arma tour, meant to post it the other day. Definitely see them if you get a chance, they kicked ass last time through town.
One of my friends just bought his ticket to Peter Hook in Asheville, looks like I'll be getting mine when I get off work tonight. Early May is going to be awesome.

I should probably just go to that one. I'm usually wary of the "one member-revival" thing, but their live shows have been getting good reviews from what I've heard.

To me, the bassist playing two of my favorite albums of all time front to back is more than enough for this case. I've heard mixed reviews of Hooky's shows in the past, but I'm willing to take a gamble... the promise of "New Dawn Fades", "24 Hours", and "Decades" being played sells me.
