I just won VIP tickets for A Perfect Circle tomorrow night. I feel like it sold really poorly since my cousin also won VIP tickets, and I don't think they sold upper bowl tickets at all (they're playing at a 18,000 person venue, which makes no sense).
Anyway, the tickets include a stage tour, some swag, and a group shot with Billy Howerdel. I'm definitely going to the show, but the tour and group pic stuff starts at 3pm, so I'd need to take a half day off work. Anyone here done one of these tours before? Are they worth the trouble? Or is it like, "Here's the stage, now enjoy your seats for a few hours while we set up"? TIA
Also, I saw on the day they announced the 2018 dates that the Marcus King Band was opening at The Anthem and in Asheville. Now on the website all the 2018 dates say tba.

So this show was good, glad I went. I mostly went for Ought and I was really impressed with them, even though they only got to play for like 35 or 40 minutes. I got to talk to Tim Darcy for a minute in the crowd during Waxahatchee and tell him how much I love More Than Any Other Day and their new single, so that was cool.
Waxahatchee was nice too, but the show went way later than I was expecting. They didn't take the stage til close to midnight so my energy level was lower than it needed to be to really enjoy them, plus I went by myself.
Overall it was a good night and well worth the 20 bucks I dropped. Thanks to all of you who told me to go!

Yeah, so this was totally worth it. The stage tour was with Billy who gave us the low down on the set up and what the average show day is like, and then he answered some questions. I got to ask him what he's listening to these days, (the Horrors' new album and Fever Ray, if you're curious), and then he played about a minute of the Noose for us. Pretty surreal to be on stage with him while he played those chords like a foot away. After that they took us down to the executive lounge for a Caduceus tasting but because of some Canadian laws they weren't able to actually serve any wine, so we got a charcuterie board and beer instead. Fine by me.
The show itself was good; no Judith and they played that 3 libras remix instead of the original (to be expected, on both counts), but we also didn't get Orestes which they've been playing this tour, so that was a bummer. I'm also not very into their new stuff (The Doomed is meh, I strongly disliked Hourglass, and Feathers I only heard yesterday for the first time). Everything else was great though, and Maynard seemed to be in a really good mood. He even made a Jim Lahey "shithawks" reference, which played really well with us Canucks lol.
As for swag: signed tour poster, t-shirt, tote bag, scarf, toque, couple laminates, and a wine tasting card. Not bad at all for a free Wednesday show

Scored 12th row aisle tickets for ELO in Houston this morning! The aisle seats will be clutch for not-confined dancing.
its kind of ridiculous they stretched a 2 level venue into 4 levels worth of pricing.
*hoping that the cheapest level is still available after christmas/various line up drops.
Yea, they did the same thing with Sabbath last year I think.
Buying tickets from that venue is such a bitch! What a crappy system they have. Then again, I bet I got great tix because a ton of people got confused on their site.

They use it to not use ticketmaster to avoid resellers, but it does nothing to stop it, they also sell out way to fast for most things, sometimes it seems like they were never actually on sale. the flash seats is only really good for undersold shows (HOV!) and rockets games, but its great for rockets games.

I owe you a thank you because that original post made me check the Orlando Waxahatchee date and it wasn't until then that I realized Ought was opening. I went to the show last night and loved Ought and thought Waxahatchee, but I still feel their music is much more suited for being alone/with a couple in the dark at home than it is for a live show. Coolest part was drinking with the bass player and keyboard player from Ought afterward and the most unexpected was having to pick Waxahatchee's guitarist up off the ground after she fell when walking off stage.

Awesome! Glad you enjoyed the show. Totally agree with you regarding Waxahatchee not being suited for the best live show, but I still thought they were decent. Ought was definitely the highlight of the night though.
